As a foreigner visiting LA, it really is something we do not understand without experiencing it.

Pictures and words just do not get across what it is like in person.


That said, 99% of them were of no real bother. As a visitor.

I'm sure there is a backstory as to why he sprayed this person with a hose. Not the nicest thing to do but he is probably fed up to be losing business.

A lot of the homeless mind their own business but some get out of hand. Many are on drugs and do them out in the open, not a good look for a business or residential area.

I do feel sorry for a lot of these folks as many have mental/drug issues and the problem is beyond out of hand at this point.

I just spent a few minutes educating myself on the seemingly important distinction between unhoused and homeless. I followed it up with an extended facepalm and lengthy grimace.

2. Don't know if any of you owned a business? Business owner pays rent to a landlord.... sometimes business isn't so good here and there... no revenue. You get sick and tired of bums around the entrance to your business. Let's face it... when someone is right near your entrance... and you look like trash... sometimes people won't even go to look around... because of an intimidation factor... or just an unpleasant THING near your entrance. The business owner even said... police won't do anything to help the cause. Sure... just allow the woman to sit near my business. Yeah... it's ABSOLUTELY HARMLESS. Easy for them to say.... Does that lady pay his rent for him to the landlord?

I told one bum one day... why must you do your "daily routine" in front of my business everyday? Go do it in front of someone else's business. I said... all you do is pester my potential customers... begging them for money every single day... hurting my revenue. Then I can't survive to pay my landlord... because customers won't come in to spend. It's a chain reaction... that construction dude (in that video clip) doesn't know sh## and that other a-hole doesn't know sh##.

I always said make being homeless in the city a crime with 30 days jail time. There is always a reason the homeless are homeless and it's one of these 3.

1) Drug or alcohol addiction.

2) Lazy and don't want to work.

3) Mentally ill and most likely from extended hard drug abuse over their life time.


Jail time to sober them up and mental health screening would be a good start. Work programs after the short jail time served would really be great. Any State money being spent on helping the homeless problem should be spent on that but it's not!

Everyone loves clean streets and we don't have them anymore because of the homeless and drug users.

Very simple.

I know people that used either crack or meth for years and after being up for a few days they said they started hearing voices in their heads and or were extremely paranoid thinking the FBI was after them. They got sober years later and back to normal with no voices in their heads and no mental meds needed.

Still the medical field experts call this mental illness and or a disease which it is not!

Amazing how clear the 2 opposite sides are, on this issue. Landlord rights vs. the need to care for the displaced.

SF used to be right up there with Paris and Venice, as one of the worlds most romantic cities. Now its a sewer. Drug needles, crap, and homeless. In 40 years some properties have increased 10x in value, or more. Blocking many from buying, in turn, increasing rents. Building tent cities, in outlying areas, was viewed as too extreme. So now, instead, some areas are spending 100's of dollars a night on hotels. Or buying hotels to use for homeless. Surprise, no pride of ownership, so many of the rooms were completely trashed.

In 1960 JFK pushed through legislation closing state mental hospitals, favoring local community mental health, outpatient (largely) facilities. Add the explosion of drugs and you have an extreme problem thats not going away. A problem with no easy answers.
