The Mirage hotel in Las Vegas was put under lockdown on Thursday night after reports emerged of a shooting in a hotel room.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department wrote in a tweet that it was investigating a shooting incident and that one person had been pronounced dead.
"We are investigating a shooting in a hotel room at the Mirage. One person has been pronounced deceased," the department wrote. "This is an active investigation and we will provide more information as it becomes available. Please avoid the area."

Eileen De La Cruz, a guest at the hotel, told Insider that she saw "security running in the casino" at around 8 p.m.

MGM still considers it one of their mid level properties, on par with Mandalay Bay and MGM Grand, I don't think I've stayed there since like 2007.

The Mirage is seeing it’s last hoorah..

I used to stay there twice a year in the 2000’s. I used to love the smell inside the casino, the pool was great and if you tipped good you drank whatever you wanted all day/night in the sports book. Great chocolate chip muffins at the Roasted Bean, too.

I’m bummed I didn’t do one stroll through there when I was in Vegas a few months ago.

A good rule to follow is after an "incident" the place in question is safer that ever!
Restaurants that have a food problem are way above board as are hotels and other gathering places.
People shy away because of the negative publicity, but these are the best places to go and sometimes have great deals to draw people back!
