When I grew up, there were 2 kids in my neighborhood (white kids, 2 different families, not related) that lived with their mother (their dads lived somewhere else in town) and both of those kids had one thing in common, they were just a little more reckless and wild than every other kid that we hung out with. They were the kids that if you told your mother that you were going over to their house or to the mall with, your mother would roll her eyes and say "No way!"

One of them died from a drug overdose years ago, and the other got locked up for robbing the construction company that he worked for.

I really cannot tell you whether single family homes contribute to more crime. I've seen stats that say that BUT none of the ones I've seen took into consideration socioeconomics. Times are changing every year. 'I saw a German study that said that latchkey kids were more successful and independent than those who weren't. There's a lot of highly successful people raising their kids without spouses. Now we have same sex parents. Those kids are not out their committing crimes. But I have no clear data to prove either way.

A kid at my HS school cased and robbed houses for a living. His mom and dad both present in the house and they made good money. I can't even count how many were on drugs as well. I just don't see the correlation to 1, 2 or no parents. In that case, all orphans would be criminals. You never know what person may come into a child's life and change them forever. Most of the time it's not the parents.

Personally, I said I would never marry someone that came from a single parent household. That was my choice and had nothing to do with kids and crime. So I get your point but it is not just black and white.
