#5I'd be in favor of defunding the police to put more rittenhouses out there, costs taxpayers less overall getting volunteers providing protection rather than paid.
I doubt more police could have stopped them though, unless there was 80 cops right there.Comment -

#6In Walnut Creek too, which is not even in the city. No way to stop them and if you do people will say “they were only taking a shirt” because they were cold!Originally posted by TuesdayI'd be in favor of defunding the police to put more rittenhouses out there, costs taxpayers less overall getting volunteers providing protection rather than paid.

#14meh it's San Fran, been a liberal dump for quite some time now. I mean if their own Governor/Mayors/Political Leaders etc. don't care and allow it too happen why would I give a flying f*ck...burn the entire sh*tbox of a city down for all I care, it's what they want apparentlyComment -

I almost don't care anymore myself at what happens in these liberal cities. Homeless and drugs out of control also in these city streets.Comment -

Note to self don't open retail store in or around San Fran area!
Interesting that prop 47 has not effected the rest of the state in the same way
Why San Francisco? If the problem stems in part from a change in California law, why aren’t other cities in the state seeing similar spikes in shoplifting?Comment -

#18When their cities turn into Detroit ghost towns like in the late 80's and 90's then they finally wake up and just hop on the next bus and move to another nicer ghetto in America with open stores. Rinse, repeat and wash all over again.Originally posted by Sanity CheckThey don't follow the news closely enough to know things like this happen.

#19I try to see the glass half full as well, I don't condone petty thievery, but I don't feel bad for LV stores - their insurance will pay for everything, and while I wouldn't shoplift, I'm not going to investigate when I find I good deal on items I want.Originally posted by franklee168The good news is that there will be designer items for 50% off on ebay and craigslist to buy for your significant others. It's way worse when petty thieves rob private homes and people on the street, so if they leave regular people alone and just rob banks and stores that have insurance, I'm ok with that.Comment -

#20This is true. Too many people voted for Biden that don't even follow politics or watch the news. They only voted because they didn't like Trumps personality. It's a shame because the country was doing so good under Trump yet these idiots couldn't even realize it. Now we have $4 gas and food prices going up everyday. But Joe is a nice guy. Fuk.Originally posted by Sanity CheckThey don't follow the news closely enough to know things like this happen.

#21The problem with your logic is that most stores will all board up and shut down in the end. You won't be able to get goods in the city you live in when store raiding is out of control. Grocery stores also will close in the very end.Originally posted by TuesdayI try to see the glass half full as well, I don't condone petty thievery, but I don't feel bad for LV stores - their insurance will pay for everything, and while I wouldn't shoplift, I'm not going to investigate when I find I good deal on items I want.

CLOSED FOR BUSINESS!! Gotta have law and order. Stop the bail reform and the $900 or less shop lifting no crime laws in these liberally ran cities.Comment -

#22Totally man, I don't agree with daily free to alls of thievery, I don't even like to see it happen once - and you're right that of it keeps happening stores won't bother opening since insurance will stop paying out or will stop selling them insurance.Originally posted by JIBBBYThe problem with your logic is that most stores will all board up and shut down in the end. I'm just saying that as bad as it is or as bad as these 2 incidents are, hopefully it's not a regular occurrence because if it is a one off the insurance will pay for everything and not much lost except for insurance company shareholder profits.
But yeah if it keeps happening then it's a big problem...but making tougher penalties won't stop it, like that 3 strikes getting life before out west - if it keeps happening it better to fortify stores to lock out thieves from breaking in.Comment -

#27The other problem with this level of insanity - insurance prices keep going up - the cost of goods keep going up - the store ends up closed and all those jobs are lost - rinse repeat somewhere elseOriginally posted by TuesdayI try to see the glass half full as well, I don't condone petty thievery, but I don't feel bad for LV stores - their insurance will pay for everything, and while I wouldn't shoplift, I'm not going to investigate when I find I good deal on items I want.

Business owners facing the possibility of skyrocketing, potentially prohibitive, insurance rates because of crime.
Yeah, that really compares to being asked to wear a chin diaper in Vegas when there are plenty of exceptions to get out of it, like holding a beer.
Just unreal the perspective here...LMAO.Comment
