Beyond Meat Q3 sales fall short as US demand drops
Shares in the company based in El Segundo, California, dropped 18% in after-hours trading.

Plant-based meat maker Beyond Meat reported lower-than-expected sales in the third quarter due to a slump in U.S. demand.

Beyond Meat said its sales increased 12.7% to $106.4 million for the July-September period.

Beyond Meat President and CEO Ethan Brown said the results were especially disappointing because they came on the heels of the second quarter, when the company reported record revenue of $149 million.

Beyond Meat President and CEO Ethan Brown said Beyond Meat also lost some market share to an increasing number of competitors in the plant-based meat category. But he said he doesn’t believe the results indicate declining consumer interest in Beyond Meat’s products. He noted that repeat-buying rates rose in the quarter.

He said the company plans to push the health and climate benefits of its products in an aggressive marketing push next year.

Now is a good opportunity to buy Beyond Meat (BYND) at a discount.

It is obviously the Amazon (AMZN) of the future.

Crazy, as an investor never would I put a penny into something like this. If you don't give a superior dividend, and have stellar growth wouldn't even consider it

Probably worse for you than regular meat between the soy and vegetable oils

I always knew that beyond meat was going to be a fad. You want to impress me make some veggies out of meat.

Now go buy some AQB, they grow Salmon from genetically altered Salmon eggs. Taste great and made entirely in a fresh water tank in the midwest.

McDonald's McPlant plants a no meat future

"McPlant is crafted exclusively for McDonald's, by McDonald's," said Ian Borden, the president of the company's international business.

Some markets will test the McPlant burger next year. The line could eventually include burgers, chicken substitutes, and more.

I (Grace Dean) decided to try it at one of the 250 UK restaurants selling the McPlant and see how it stacks up compared with the chain's Quarter Pounder with Cheese. Insider's Bethany Dawson praised the McPlant in a review, but I wanted to put it head-to-head with one of McDonald's meat-based burgers.

Of everything on McDonald's menu, I thought that the Quarter Pounder with Cheese was the most similar. Both were the same price at the McDonald's I went to in Newcastle, at £3.79 ($5.08) on their own or £5.29 ($7.08) as part of a medium meal with a drink and fries. The McPlant comes in at 429 calories, while the Quarter Pounder with Cheese has 518 calories.

The patties themselves looked quite different. The beef one in the Quarter Pounder was slightly bigger and had fairly rough edges. The McPlant patty had much smoother edges, which made it look more artificial.

As for the taste, I much preferred the McPlant. It had a rich, meaty flavor and could have fooled me that it was real meat.

Everyone buys a 6 pick or 12 pack...

...the key to success is getting them to buy the second one.

Holds true in the craft beer world, seems to hold in the exotic food world as well.

Everyone will try it, but will they stick w it?

                      It's a status thing.

Those who feel better buy consuming a product they believe has 0 carbon footprint (cows pass gass) and is humane (no slaughter) will pay for the ability to feel good.

Remember when EVERY lib ran out and bought the early EVs, despite the batteries being just trash for lifespan and being absolute toxic waste once used up...but they feel good because they're told that's a clean car.

People like to buy status- makes the fakes feel good

I think I found one that will eventually rocket. Else Nutrition BABYF. It’s a plant based formula for infants that can’t have a cow milk based formula. They are also developing toddler foods Anybody who has kids with bad reaction to cow milk will buy this up and keep buying.
