Can you name the wars where the enemy has been turned into the wasteland you think would scare a country with bigger and longer range nukes than USA?
Remind me of any conflict where the USA even prevailed during your or my lifetime?
I think during the invasion of Panama and the carpet bombing of suburbs of Panama City and hiding the 1000's of murdered civilians in mass graves could be your only possible answer.
I like your patriotism, but I wonder if you have been given a false sense of security. The USA aint that bad or unbeatable according to history..Comment -

#38It might be more likely that China will look at what has happened in Vietnam, Korea, Somalia, Iraq, Syria & Afghanistan.

#39China not risking a military conflict w US/ free world over a little island with no economic value.
China economy is hurting, additional sanctions would cripple it.
Xi is President for life, he cares about his legacy....
Fuel supply
Tech leadership
Global respect for Chinese citizens
Growing middle communist class
Foreign investment dollars

#40Technology equipment is Taiwan’s top export to China. Information and communication technology products make up half of Taiwan’s total exports. Between July and September, $27.2 billion of Taiwan's $90 billion in exports went to China. Those numbers come from Taiwan’s Bureau of Foreign Trade.Comment -

#41China guaranteed hong kong autonomy.
Then went back on the promise.
Decades past, china promised tibet autonomy.
Then went back on the promise and now claim tibet as their territory.
...
If china's long record of breaking promises and stabbing allies in the back doesn't help china "gain even more control, and credibility, and allies, in the region" what will.
Am I right.
So while you're right about China can't be trusted, China will be more careful with Taiwan because of america and only because of america. China will not risk war for insignificant Taiwan because risking war does not help China gain more control/credibility/allies/etc in their region - while simply bullying Taiwan with saber rattling and covert operations does.Comment -

#42Go listen to the song "Dogs" by a band you may have heard of before Pink Floyd. And when youre done shove that marxist rhetoric up your ass. On here implicating to these dumb shit minions that war is about marxism. Listen pal wars are about making profits for international bankers and installing the puppet leaders said bankers want in place to win their bets and further their agenda for world control. Your ignorance about how reserve banks are private for profit corporations disgusts me to the point i want to vomit. Heres a simple question you should easily be able to answer if youre woke. What corporation has the most employees in the world?Comment -

China retreats from 50-year pledge of Hong Kong autonomy
BEIJING -- China passed national security legislation governing Hong Kong on Tuesday, jeopardizing the "one country, two systems" policy that was supposed to last another 27 years.
The U.K. took possession of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon Peninsula to the north as spoils of the Opium Wars against China's Qing dynasty in the 19th century. Britain later took out a 99-year lease on the New Territories -- a third portion of the Hong Kong region -- which was due to expire in 1997.
Britain agreed to relinquish Hong Kong to China when the New Territories lease expired in 1997. Thatcher visited China again in 1984 for the signing ceremony of the joint declaration. The 50-year promise was included in the text.

Russia Blasts China Over Unauthorized Copying Of Russian Military Hardware
Russia has been China’s biggest arms supplier between 2014 and 2018, accounting for 70% of Beijing’s arms imports but rampant Chinese reverse-engineering Russian military hardware has become a major concern for Moscow.Rostec chief accused China of copying everything from aircraft engines, Sukhoi planes, deck jets, air defence systems, portable air defence missiles, and analogues of the Pantsir medium-range surface-to-air systems.Even Russia’s most advanced weaponry is not off-limits. Russia sold six of its S-400 anti-aircraft systems and 24 of its Su-35 fighter jets to China in 2015 for $5 billion.Despite Moscow’s fury over Beijing’s stealing of sensitive technology, it is unlikely to cut back arms sales to China according to experts. During the 1990s, China obtained-27 fighter jets and S-300 missile systems from Russia and later developed its own J-11 fighter jet and HQ-9 surface-to-air missiles by reverse-engineering Russian designs.Russia adopted various measures to check the practice. For example, it insisted that China purchase arms in bulk instead of buying just a few samples — a sign that the arms were likely to be reverse-engineered. Russia also pressed for assurances against theft in its contracts, and even tried to obtain royalties from Chinese copies of Russian arms. But Kozyulin admitted that the measures were far from effective. “We tried combating this problem in a variety of ways, but without much success,” he said.

It is not disputed that Hong Kong is Chinese territory, that is why China can get away with doing whatever they want they overly and covertly.
While Taiwan is not viewed as Chinese territory by the Western countries, they are an independent country with diplomatic status - Hong Kong and Tibet don't have any diplomatic status much less independent status.
The agreement that China made to keep Hong Kong autonomous for 50 years is an international binding agreement - but the agreement does not specify what the penalties would be if China reneged.
It's the same thing as the Paris accords that all these countries sign into promising to reduce emissions - when countries fail to do so nothing happens, just another broken political promise. Hong Kong is like this.
Taiwan is not like Hong Kong, Taiwan military alliances and made during wartime specify joint efforts against China. It's like NATO allies against Russia. Hong Kong has no allies.
That all being said, if there ever a time when China believed it could take Taiwan back without risking war with the West - of course they will do it, just like China does whatever they want they don't honour agreements.
It's easy for the West to turn it's back on Hong Kong and Tibet, the excuse is that they are not formal allies - but Taiwan is the most formal of allies there is.
Just to sum it up - military allies getting invaded are war worthy, but broken promises are not war worthy.Comment
