    Just some of my favorites:

*Rainbow. Lead singer Graham Bonnet wasn't part of the group too long. How awesome is his voice?

Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

Thank You Beautiful Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke with his actual face.

I would be remiss if I didn't thank the always spot-on Randy Newman.
He is consistently a great understated genius in concert.

The later stuff with Joe Lynn Turner was very good also. Kind of a weird band with all of the lineup changes, but always had great singers.

and of course this one, like this unique version, in their later years, and how they show they still have it half way through.... classic as can be:

If you can find Pink Floyd Dark Side of The Moon Madison Square Garden NYC tour 1977? you will see why even today it considered one of the best. Post it if you can find it. I was there for one of the best parties ever. CLASSIC doesn't even cover it.

Double, I'll look and post if I find it. Might have to settle for a different version.

I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan. The sound is so unique. I think of Floyd as four different versions:

                              1) Syd Barrett-led group. Experimental sound, was very good. Some (including Roger) viewed Syd as a tragic figure. I say that he drugged out and ruined his potential. Sad.

                              2) Collaborative period. David Gilmour replaces Syd. Gilmour was a talent but I never found him to be that likable. During this period, Floyd produced some amazing all-time music. And like Double says, the concerts were reportedly amazing.

                              3) Roger Waters-led period. This was short. The band had more disputes, and invariably they allowed Roger to rule to keep it going. I love Roger but he had (has?) an ego the size of a house.

                              4) Post-Roger period. Sorry, I can't even listen to this. I can't even think about Floyd doing music w/o Roger.

That year I got out of high school but this is not Dark Side. The shows at Madison Square Garden may not have been recorded because it was like 44 yrs. ago. Back then a friend of mine got me into Pink Floyd. We got tickets and since I lived in New Jersey then the Garden was easy to get to by train. We got tickets and went to go see them.

Double, I see that now. The Youtube header says 1977. That's the Animals tour.

You sure your concert wasn't 1973 (or 1974)?

Yeah Syd was the genius behind Pink Floyd but he dropped too much acid and ended up in a mental hospital. How can you not like David Gilmour? Even today he is considered one of the top guitar players and his sound will never be copied. It's too bad Roger Waters thought he was Pink Floyd and that he ruled. The band would have gotten a few more years together but he ended it with what he thought. I saw them Dark Side, The Wall, Wish You Were Here, and perhaps what may have been their best album, Animals.

I probably listen to "Animals" more than any other Floyd album. Such a unique sound.

Re: Gilmour, I think it has to do with the Roger vs David rivalry. If you have to pick a side, I take Roger. I always thought Roger's voice was spookier.

Saw Jimi Hendrix live on March 10, 1968 in D.C. in the Wash. Hilton hotel ballroom.

                                            Seating capacity 4,000

                                            Row H .

My first concert. I was 13.

                                            Unbelievable. I'll never forget it.

No it couldn't have been 73 or 74 because I would have been 13 or 14 then and I didn't go to a rock concert until I was 17. Thinking back I saw the Beach Boys in at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, it might have been my first concert. The Animals tour came started in '77 Dark Side was '73. Remember they didn't get to the US tour until a few years after the albums came out. Dark Side came out a few years before Animals.
Things were different then touring the US was a few years after release overseas. Dark Side was not a hit until people realized how good the album was. Look up the years of Floyd's albums and you will see. Don't always go by the way Google says things that happened more than 40 years ago. I can tell you for a fact Animals'77 came after I saw Wish You Were Here'75. Their last great album The Wall was '79.

Yeah Syd was the genius behind Pink Floyd but he dropped too much acid and ended up in a mental hospital. How can you not like Gilmour? Even today he still tours and is considered one of the top guitar players. It's too bad Roger Waters thought he was Pink Floyd and ruined the band.

By older brother got me my ticket and we went to the 2nd show on purpose because we wanted to see the destruction act at the end where they destroy the instruments and amps.

He did not disappoint. Incredible !

If you're referencing Roger, I hear you. His ego was massive. He said/did some things that would turn a guy off:

                                                          1) He would talk about band collaboration and effectively say "I did this...", as if the other guys didn't contribute.
                                                          2) He took full creative control of the band during the "The Final Cut".
                                                          3) He wrote that song "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" as a tribute to SYD and profited off it. Yet he wouldn't so much as acknowledge Syd when he later crossed paths with him at Harrod's.

Despite all that, I value his musical contributions. Maybe I have blinders on. I could easily see why it would be hard/impossible to work with him over several years.

No hey without Roger Waters there would have been no Pink Floyd. And even to not acknowledge Syd would not be that bad because Syd was burnt to a crisp. Syd walked into a Pink Floyd practice session years after they kicked him out and they didn't recognize him. He was fat and had no hair. I can't say I know the full details of what went on behind the scenes, no one can. But as far as I can follow the details and it almost can be true to the sense that Gilmour, Mason, Wright were fed up with Waters thinking he was Pink Floyd and what he said was it. But that's rock & roll and the life. How many bands stay together for more than 15-20 yrs?

Yes, it's amazing how RAPID Syd's demise was. Was just a matter of years (like 5 or 6) since he had left the band. As if he aged 30 years in 5 years:

                                                                Syd Barrett's visit

On 5 June 1975, on the eve of Pink Floyd's second US tour that year, Gilmour married his first wife, Ginger.[nb 2] That day, the band were completing the mix of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"[nb 3] when an overweight man with shaven head and eyebrows entered, carrying a plastic bag. Waters did not recognise him.[6] Gilmour presumed he was an EMI staff member.[20] Wright presumed he was a friend of Waters, but realised it was Barrett.[23] Mason also failed to recognise him and was "horrified" when Gilmour identified him. In Mason's Pink Floyd memoir Inside Out, he recalled Barrett's conversation as "desultory and not entirely sensible".[24] Cover artist Storm Thorgerson reflected on Barrett's presence: "Two or three people cried. He sat round and talked for a bit but he wasn't really there."[25]

Waters was reportedly reduced to tears by the sight of his former bandmate. When fellow visitor Andrew King asked how Barrett had gained so much weight, Barrett said he had a large refrigerator in his kitchen and had been eating lots of pork chops.

As far as can remember they started in NY 4 shows then went to LA for 5 shows. The wall they built was too big to fit anyplace else. It was really a masterpiece. I remember freezing my b's off (it was really cold that night) walking from the car to the entrance.
