    When the voracious Caldor Fire raced through forested Phillips near South Lake Tahoe, it destroyed dozens of cabins but spared a couple. One was wrapped in what looks like aluminum foil

      Why do people wrap food in aluminum foil.

      Not to protect food from heat, aluminum is a very good conductor of thermal energy, it has the opposite effect.





      It might work with radiant barrier, heat insulation. That goes in home ceilings. Definitely not aluminum though.
