Australia are similar to us in New Zealand (we are currently in hard lock down) in that elimination is/was possible by lock downs. Most parts of Australia and all of NZ have lived normal lives for the past 18 months completely covid free so why not try drag that out as long as possible? We all know we'll have to live with it at some stage but that doesn't need to be now. Doesn't help that both our vax rates are extremely low of course.

So far my state has already surpassed 80% single shot and is on target to hit the 80% double shot before the end of November.


Then we re-open, and then you can point fingers as much as you like, if it turns out we all start dying anyway.

Or you might then have to admit Australia got it right and has the best result medically and economically in the world?


Feels like we are doing way better than California despite the very late start to vaccinating starting. Here on the ground.
