Happy Memorial Day

While I agree with the sentiment, is "Happy Memorial Day" the correct way to say it? Merry Christmas, Happy Thanksving, Happy Independence Day--those all make sense, but seems to me that it's an odd way for a holiday that has some solemnity to it. Not my intent to be argumentative here, but am truly curious.

Fair question. "SOMBER Memorial Day" sounds like too much of a downer.

Just trying to acknowledge all those who have perished in the course of serving the armed forces. Not a very vocal group, as all are deceased. RIP, fallen soldiers.
