After you turn 40 you really need to focus on quality over quantity

2 or 3 good craft beers w no dinner (so you dont disable metabolism of food) or 5/ 6 light imports (again, empty stomach) on Friday and Saturday only will be easy to maintain.

You get the belly because the metabolism of alcohol occurs to the detriment of metabolism of foods you've eaten. I.E. you eat 1200 calories at dinner and consume 6 beers that night, you won't even begin to metabolize your dinner till 6/7 hours later...by then your body has already converted much of it to fat.

Alternatively you could take some laxatives to hasten the expulsion of food that will save you some calories but dehydrate you quickly.

That's some serious bro science right there. Perhaps it's more due to the fact that you'll consume fewer calories if you skip the 1200 calorie dinner...?

Beer does not make you fat. All the food you gorge on after drinking does. Get some exercise , the beer does not hurt you.

More or less true. You could drink 15 beers a day and lose/maintain weight if that's all you consumed. It wouldn't be very healthy though.

Yes and no...in this case it all comes down to timing of food consumption.

Your body needs 90 minutes to metabolize the alcohol in a 16 oz beer. It cannot metabolize anything else before it metabolizes the alcohol (this is why we get drunk then sober up faster than we consume food and excrete its waste).

So if you slam 8 16 oz beers you're not burning ANY food calories for 12 hours, so had you consumed that 1200 calorie dinner you'd have converted 1200 food calories, and about 1500 beer calories into energy, which you metabolize about 100 calories an hour, so 2300 calories stored to fat in 1 night, processing at 100 calories an hour. If you add breakfast to that you set yourself back even more.

That's why, when being a beer drinker, you have to skip either dinner or breakfast, just to maintain your weight....it's tough

I have 1/2 ipas a day (strong) and the rest is bourbon with diet soda.

I'm in incredible shape for 40 with bad genes.

I also eat keto and don't ever eat fast food or crap but on very very rare occasions

I've gone the same route. All meats. I'll indulge in fast food chicken occasionally.

Turned 40 in Oct. Dad died 58 of stroke so I've gotten more healthy as I age by focusing on moving, proteins and keeping alcohol limited.

It's hard in FL because everybody just drinks and gets fat here... but I do a lot of heavy lifting which helps me recover from a binge drinking episode pretty quick (seems the heavy pumps get the nioxon and oxygen synthesis going, along w protein synthesis and appears to double the speed of alcohol metabolism which gets us back on track to avoiding the belly)

Bottom line is that food you eat, especially when drinking, if it's got carbs or if it's a dinner & breakfast thereafter, you will pack on the pounds. But now you understand why...alcohol monopoly on metabolism while in the system
