I could probably get "3k worth" of the restaurant food for the 1k of cash at the same quality.

Comp sounds better on the face of it, but it all depends on the value of what you are forced to buy with it.

But to save hassle, have a few nice evenings out, and not give a shit about value, I'd still probably take the comp as it all becomes part of the value I'm trying not to give a shit about...lol.
