about 12 years ago I read the best book I ever read concerning the mob. It was titled I HEARD YOU PAINT HOUSES, and it was about a killer who worked for R Buffiliano an Italian boss who lived in my part of the country.

it was fascinating because it was interesting and it spoke to secrets that even the FBI did not know. for instance this Irishman character admitted on his deathbed to killing Jimmy Hoffa and how he did it. Plus, all the murders he committed for his boss. He also said that NY took orders from mr Buffiliano.

the movie the Irishman has recently been released in our area soon the nation. It is now on Netflix under the title the Irishman. If it is 1/2 as good as the book it will be a good movie. I am going to watch it now.

the book was fabulous. especially since it was true and a deathbed confession. I can tell the movie will be good but not as good as the Godfather--naturally or GF 2. But, it is interesting how these guys aged, I mean actually aged in real life, because they fit the parts better.
We have the usual suspects playing all the gangsters. It is the only time you get to see, and naturally I can't think of his name now, but it is the only type movies he does any more. He has a daughter that is also a movie star. Italian guy (naturally)

I was really looking forward to the movie.

It was like they dug up the guys who were still alive from Mean Streets and Goodfellas and tried to draw out the longest possible way to tell a story.

They could have just given the alleged facts of the film in a five-minute lecture on that period of mafia history.

I would have enjoyed it about as much without having to waste 4 hours.

100% of the time the book is always better. Godfather. In Cold Blood. Gone With The Wind. Dracula. The Maltese Falcon. Sherlock Holmes. Any Stephen King novel. I could go on and on. There is no way to turn a great novel into a great 1-1/2 to 3 hour movie. The Godfather came close, but it took two 3 hour movies.

There is no way to turn a great novel into a great 1-1/2 to 3 hour movie. The Godfather came close, but it took two 3 hour movies.

Actually saw Stephen King on Casey Key a couple weeks ago while house hunting. Lives there I guess. Guy is not attractive.

I think I liked it partially because I grew up hearing these same names of our local talent. My brother even attended a wedding that included a few of these people.

I waited so very long for the book to be turned into a movie, I don't believe they followed the book completely. but I read it so very long ago not 100% sure. get the book, get the book, so much better.

Im currently watching it now and just got to that part. His stomps are now nowhere near his stomps in GoodFellas when he's kicking Billie Batts.
