Let’s talk rock and roll drummers.
Who’s the greatest rock and roll drummer of all time?
It’s all subjective so there’s no right or wrong answers but for my money it’s Neal Pert and not for nothing Rush (in my opinion) is the most underrated rock band ever.

You want to argue Bonham or Keith Moon I’m all ears, but like I said it’s Neal Pert for me.

I'll go with Pert and Bonham, but at least those two made it to the right gig...

Moon proved a drummer can be just as famous as the bands lead singer,so few have been able to do that.

        Give it to him.

Maybe not the best drummer ever but you have to give the guy props for ability after losing his left arm.

                  Def Leppard: Rick Allen.

No argument with Peart, but Ian Paice of Deep Purple deserves more love than he gets. Check out "Burn." Then listen to his amazing drumming on all the songs by them you care to listen to. He's still at it too. He gets my vote.

This heavy handed m’fer Ginger Baker, who backed up Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce was pretty bad ass!

Barriemore Barlow was great. Check this out.
I would still give the rock crown to Neil Peart or Carl Palmer. Saw Peart in his prime, '80s..
he has really dropped in age and I think that's why they called it quits..,
I did see Palmer in the 80s also but he was infatuated with the new electronic drums then, which I don't care for.

Peart had a messed up shoulder, tendonitis I think.
Showtime last month ran a full weekend of rockumentries (Rush, Skynard, you name it. It was amazing).
Rush played their farewell gig with Peart barely able to lift a drumstick.

I like the drumming of Josh Freeze of the Vandals. Good shit there. Check out I know huh.
I also got to give the nod to Danny Carey of Tool. Finally out with another album and I think it was done intentionally
to not have a song that is easily put on the radio. Stil kicks ass however.
I also like the work of probably one of the most popular guys Travis Barker. Loved his work in the AquaBats as Baron Von Tito,
and the early work in Blink 182. Also like the latest stuff on the lastest offering from Cokie the Clown.
Also Like all the others from some more popular bands, and I don't know that you can really choose who is better than who. I
think I like them all about the same. I'm just glad to have heard them play. Most of the guys mentioned in the thread
have play for me live so I am grateful for their live work too

FYI, Neil Peart suffered some tremendous tragedies years ago. His daughter was killed in a traffic accident in Quebec on her way to university and less than a year later his wife died of cancer.

He now lives as a retired drummer in California with his new wife and their daughter.

The rest of Rush (Lee/Lifeson) still live in Toronto. If you look closely during Toronto Blue Jay game tv broadcasts you can see Geddy Lee in seats behind home plate as he is a lifetime season ticket holder.

That's why I say Rush is the most underrated band of all time.
No not because of the Blue Jays because they had two of the GOAT rockers in that band (Lee and Peart) and should have been much more decorated as a band.

Grohl may not be the technician of a Peart, but I just like how his drumming sounds. He reminds me of "The Animal" from the Muppets. I think it was John Paul Jones that said about Grohl "Man, that guy plays loud." That's coming from a guy who played with Bonham for years.
