The "bad apples" concept is more than worn out. If there are so many good cops then why do we have any bad cops? LEOs swear an oath to defend and protect the constitution and uphold and enforce the law before putting on the badge. There is not an exemption in their oath that states anything about not enforcing or upholding the law when a fellow officer commits a crime or violates a citizen's constitutional rights. Yet, most officers turn a blind eye and remain silent when witnessing fellow cops break the law and often times assist with the cover up. This is not honoring their oath and in turn this makes them a bad cop, too.
If any regular person, who isn't a cop, commits a crime while on the clock for their employer they are generally terminated and don't have the luxury of appealing the decision to get their job back and receive back pay for the days missed. Nor do these same people get a paid vacation, AKA administrative leave, while their employer sorts out and reviews the situation. Police unions, DAs and courts cover for and defend officers six ways to Sunday no matter how minor or egregious the criminal behavior. The blue line privilege needs to go. They are regular people with a regular job and should not be granted special treatment when they break the law or fail to uphold the oath they swore to.Comment -

#113Nothing but democrats spun lies in this post. Once again a libbie is demonizing their own agenda.....who supports unions??? Mostly DEMOCRATS!! And now you are arguing that the policies of the left that you weirdly admire, should not be used by police?? Very strange logic. Try admitting failure and regrouping instead of pointing the finger.

#117I'll never understood the "fall in line" attitude these 'blue line' supporters spout.
The country is founded on the principle of self governance, community development, individualism and private property rights.
The current law enforcement attitude and political policy is for centralized government, communications oppression, racial regression and segregated enforcement, selective and in many cases biased protection of private property and individual rights....i.e. 2 classes, those that are in LE and those who aren't.
And why all this Republican vs Democrat talk? Police unions support Democrats 2:1 despite the liberal agenda for 2 reasons.
1- Democrats fund those pensions
2- Democrats believe in bifurcation of LE and segregated law and order.
PH Q ALL I'm not sure you have a true understanding of the socio political impact of Law Enforcement gone bad.Comment -

Oklahoma Cop Kills Police Chief during Public Safety Conference in Florida
An Oklahoma cop is accused of killing his police chief Sunday while the two of them were attending a law enforcement conference in Florida.
Mannford police officer Michael Nealey was arrested after a "physical confrontation" with Mannford Police Chief Lucky Miller that left the chief dead during the conference which was set to take place this week at the Hilton Pensacola Beach hotel, beginning Sunday night.
Nealey was booked into the Escambia County jail and is being held without bond. Despite Florida's broad public record laws, his mugshot has not been released because Florida law makes an exemption for cops.

The Associated Press reported that authorities described this as an alcohol-fueled brawl between the two men in their Florida Panhandle hotel room.
At some point early Sunday evening, hotel security was called because the two men were being disruptive, sheriff's spokeswoman Amber Southard told the AP. Then, later in the evening, hotel staff called sheriff's deputies because the men were fighting.
When deputies arrived, they found the police chief dead, she said, and there was no weapon.
Southard added that alcohol was involved and that an autopsy is underway.

#121Another POS tyrant with a badge who let his ego get in the way when he decided to harass 2 men who know the law and their basic rights. When the men questioned the ass hat cop and refused to provide ID the jackboot pig even said "I got my rights to do anything I want to do. I'm a police officer." This blue line gang member is the the perfect example of the disconnect between citizens and law enforcement.
Hats off to the 2nd officer who arrived on the scene and deescalated the situation and put the dirtbag officer in check.

Teenage quadruple amputee wrestled to ground by deputy
The eight-minute video begins with the deputy on top of the 15-year-old. The deputy wrestles the teen to the floor and the teen is heard shouting and swearing at the deputy. The video also shows the arrest of the 16-year-old who was filming the interaction. Both teens were arrested on disorderly conduct charges. (AKA contempt of cop)

#124Another scumbag cop unlawfully detaining a man who knows his rights and has clearly committed no crime. The POS tyrant with a badge uses the excuse "we've had a lot of break ins" and he's investigating. What a load of crap. Police cannot detain anyone unless they have reasonable articulable suspicion that someone has committed, is committing or are about to commit a crime. Clearly none of this has happened. As in this video and many others, when a cop says, "I'm not going to argue with you," he/she should instead just say, "I know you're are correct in what you are saying, but I'm going to continue to attempt to violate your rights and harass you until you comply with my unlawful actions and demands."

Upon further review the story uncovered that there were a handful of SBR cop hating pros at the scene that thought they should do something but they were too afraid to. Instead they were left with a blanket from the Red Cross and last seen walking away crying and muttering to themselves after the devastation that they had just witnessed.

#131I never understood (and I'm not undermining the incident) why a cop that is shot is automatically a "hero", and anyone else that gets shot- either by the same sort said cop is interacting with, or via a cop himself, is a victim.
Why can't a knowledgeable individual, who cites his rights and is unlawfully detained, arrested or assaulted by an officer for simply being an individual in the right, why can't that person be described as a hero?
Cops are not Kings, Kings are not heroes, Hero's aren't exclusive to one class.Comment -

#133This incident happened almost a year ago, but it's hilarious watching this ignorant blue zero hero, officer Frank Moschella, get put in his place by a person who knows his rights and by his own sergeant. This lying tyrant threatens a journalist (a former LEO who left his job after witnessing rampant departmental corruption and lawlessness) with arrest for "obstruction" and "hindering" simply for not showing his ID when it was demanded unlawfully. Then even after his sergeant clarifies that the man doesn't have to provide his ID, Moschella's ego doubles down on stupid saying, "That's incorrect actually in that respect..." Another POS cop earning the hate and doesn't even know the laws he's trying to enforce.
According to the police use of force database on Force.NJ.com, officer Moschella uses force in encounters with citizens at a rate of 430% higher than the average LEO in New Jersey. The bootlickers, his family and fellow blue line gang members must be proud.

#140Another POS cop who violated a citizen's rights and his own department's policies and it was all captured on his own bodycam. Normally the blue line gang member just gets a slap on the wrist and the department covers up the criminal behavior, but this ass hat's actions cost him his job.
Greeley police officer ‘no longer with department’ following June incident with local woman
The Greeley Police Department recently completed an internal investigation into an incident in June and concluded one of its officers violated agency policy when he arrested a local woman on suspicion of harassment.
Patrol officer Casey Barnum was subsequently re-assigned to desk duty pending the investigation into the incident involving Greeley resident Rose Perez. On Friday, Sgt. Joe Tymkowych, spokesman for Greeley police, said Barnum is no longer an officer with the department.
Tymkowych declined to elaborate, saying he couldn’t provide specifics about Barnum’s departure because it’s a personnel matter.
At 11:14 a.m. June 28, Barnum responded to an apartment in the 3700 block of W. 25th Street on a report of a complaint involving a 16-year-old boy. Perez’s son had called Weld County Dispatch from the apartment complex’s main office to report he missed a court date that morning in Adams County because his mother had kicked him out of the house and refused to drive him to his hearing.
Thinking he was investigating a possible child neglect case, Barnum asked why Perez kicked her son out of the house. Perez responded by saying her son is a runaway who is constantly getting into trouble with the law. She also said her son has violent tendencies and has been violent around her two small children, ages 2 and 3 years old.
Perez pointed out damage to her front door her son caused in the past trying to break into the apartment. She noted on another occasion her son kicked the front door off of its hinges.
Barnum then interrupted by saying — inaccurately — that as a resident of the apartment and a minor, Perez’s son had every right to be inside the home, even if it meant kicking the door down to gain entry. (How dumb is this dolt?) Perez disagreed and attempted to end the conversation by walking back into her apartment.
But Barnum prevented Perez from closing the door with his foot in an attempt to keep the conversation going. Perez quickly turned and pushed Barnum back out into the hallway. He grabbed her arms and placed Perez in handcuffs, telling her she was under arrest for harassment or possibly for assaulting an officer.
“I know a lot about the law,” Perez said in a recent interview with the Greeley Tribune, adding she once studied to be a paralegal. “I know an officer can’t come into my home unless I invite him or if he has probable cause, sees something illegal or has a warrant.
Barnum placed Perez in the back of his cruiser, at which point she demanded to speak with his supervisor, Sgt. Wade Corliss. About an hour later, after numerous conversations with Barnum and his own bosses, Corliss directed Barnum to free Perez.
