My guess is American Airlines will pay low six figures with lawyers getting one-third of it and at least one person will have their career halted.

A couple years ago I bought stock in airlines on the theory that they could offer the worst customer service possible and it wouldn't effect anyone's ticket buying. It seems they are really trying to push that theory to the limit.

They already did offer to pay and admitted wrong doing. Now it's just a matter of how much they will pay.

Businesses are not obligated to respond to customer complaints. Starbucks did not have to ask to police to leave when a customer said they felt uncomfortable. An important difference why American Airlines would be liable is because they had a contract with their customer, Starbucks didn't.

Lots of good lawyers would take this on contingency. And they'll have no problem getting a jury to believe American Airlines would never do this to a white passenger. And it would become public record. Both sides will have no problem settling outside of court.
