Anybody in Sales? Serious Question

Okay fellas so I sell a product to small and medium size businesses


My territories are not the best and they are random as hell

I don’t want to get into specifics of what I sell

however my territories are Alabama, Michigan, Bakersfield California, Orlando, Tampa, Bradenton, Clearwater FL

I do this over the phone


The hardest part of my job is getting in communication with the owners..


Is there a place that would be able to get me cell phone numbers and email addresses for business owners?

My daughter did this for a couple of years. My advice is to look for another job. You have some bad locations. Bakersfield? Really?

not sure about cell phone numbers... but often you can reverse engineer email addresses. i.e. figure out the pneumonic (sp? word?)

a few friends of mine do well in sales without education. but they generally sell stuff that are very important to their customers. so they at least have a foot in the door.

No, Moron, I didn't say YOU owned the company. But if they really needed the product YOU are selling, wouldn't they seek out the company YOU work for? And if they are in YOUR territory, the company would pass the lead on to YOU? Right, Moron?

I sell Medicare products but i am a person that does 99% of my original sales face to face mainly from referrals from happy clients. I did in the beginning do cold calls and did Ok got some sales i am very good on the phone and knew what to leave in messages to entice them to call me back. I also way back ran a telemarketing room with 5 people under me. There was a book i am sure there are others that listed businesses and the phone numbers to each dept. That would be the next best thing to having their cell phone #s.

Big Bear - look for a inside sales job with protected territories. I will not answer a cold call from a sales rep. A email i don't really respond to either unless I'm expecting it.

i always keep that in mind in responding to thread subjects... try to just answer what the person asked.

Somehow I got on a medicare list and now I get invitations to free steak dinners every week. I'm nowhere near 65 so that goes to show you the quality of the information.

The list i would get of people turning 65 sometimes they were way younger or someone would get mad that answered the phone because that person had died . The dinner is probably an Hmo and they are trying to sell you that. They always try and get me to go to a restaurant too so they can pitch me what they want me to sell. A lot of times it is BC/BS or that Amerihealth.

I doubt the Invitations are to try to sell you anything to do with Medicare as CMS, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services allows no more that 15.00 be spent on food or beverages per person in that sort of setting. More than likely, its about, Annuities, Estate Planning etc..I get them all the time and i've been in the Medicare Sup and Medicare Advantage buisness for 15 years..
