How was the fetus even able to survive for 9 months? The woman's probably getting pretty minimal food herself, and the fetus would only get a small portion of the woman's food.

i've always thought we should pass a federal law mandating that anybody in a vegetative state for more than a year must be given a mercy killing. I don't care how much the pro-life people would be opposed to such a law.

Being somewhat conscious is the worst possible thing. I'd much rather be dead. Being in a coma doesn't seem that bad since it's basically the same thing as being dead. But vegetative state is the worst of all worlds.
