NYC to West Coast with Vegas stop

I've been traveling back and forth for work about every two weeks.

Have discovered that it's sometimes cheaper and preferable to stop in Vegas (airfare wise) for a few hours and then go to San Diego or vice versa.

Is there any way to get really cheap rooms at the main sportsbook hotels (Westgate, Southpoint, etc).

Why would you need a room if you’re only stopping for a few hours?

Last time I came in at 10:30

Bought some futures at Venetian and then played blackjack until 5 for 6:30 flight. But it was brutal.
