"Don't tread on me" what does it really mean now?

I see a lot of "rednecks" wearing those shirts, driving large trucks with bumper stickers and decals of it. I never knew what it means but thought it was for guys who were angry about not being able to carry firearms. Can somebody explain it in simple terms?

It's a Marine flag going back to the American revolution. Most people know this.

As brief as possible, it is someone telling the government to stay out of their business. The coiled snake sits around and minds it's own business... living life. But when someone pisses it off (too much govt invading your day to day), the coiled snake attacks and leashes out at the perpetrator.

These are not rednecks. They can be any skin color. No need to bring racism into it.

It's big in Florida now

Basically the mens groups (Lions, Masons, Kiwanas, etc) are getting involved politically again and the platform is local control by local leaders.

The theory is that large cities and DC are destroying the quality of life in rural America so the rural leaders are nandingvtogether, under this flag w its rich history, to start a more organized movement going into 2020.

It's what will keep FL a red state in '20, dont know how PA or MI are looking.
