I haven't seen an actual clip of the show, but the excerpts describe Kelly discussing the social acceptability of "blackface" while growing up....presumably in the 60s or 70s.

She then referenced a friend or colleague doing so as Diana Ross for example.

Now, that was an era not far removed from actual TV shows that featured blackface actors.

I guess my question is, did Kelly actually say that it'd be OK to go put blackface on today and mock a black character or was she simply describing her personal experience from her youth? Theres a huge difference here.

And as a follow up, if mocking black stereotypes is so taboo, then how is Dave Chappelle so beloved by black audiences? His character themes are very much black stereotypes.
