My top five list in the vid...

    1) Pavarotti (could be bias though)
    2) Sara Brightman
    3) Aretha Franklin
    4) David Phelps

In terms of pure power, projection and really opening ip (and of course nailing the key aAND changing octaves) Id go with Brightman. Phenomenal

And just to highlight how good those 5 you listed are, listen to Michael Bolton. No slouch, sang on key but my god listen to how underpowered he is compared to the others

Thank you KVB and Kraken for responding honestly as I didn't think I'd get one reply to this vid and thread start in the Saloon. I just put it out there....

One of the best voice vids on youtube I've ever heard honestly to date.

It's a test of voice and range for sure in this climax opera song.. Not even the best voices can pull this off.. Most try and fail... Yes even Michael Bolten came up short IMO with the high notes and carrying the note for a duration of time. Every singer has their own voice range though..

The story behind Aretha Franklin doing it is pretty cool, from the comments section:
Of course you can't expect Aretha Franklin's version to be the best because the song itself was made for operatic male singer. But I give credit to Aretha for stepping in Luciano's part on the Grammys. Considering she was just asked literally at a moment's notice, without rehearsal with the actual orchestra. She was just given an audio tape using a boombox to listen to Pavarotti's recorded rehearsal, and had it transposed to several octave to suit her range. She rehearsed just for a few minutes in her dressing room with the actual conductor without the orchestra and even had no idea about the staging. She was able to see it the moment she was brought at the side of the stage to perform. She said, it's gonna be fun when she saw the actual orchestra
I thought Pavarotti was the best I heard, just seemed to have endless power to his voice.

This is the new talent world over coming up.. American Idol and other show talent today.. I found it to be entertaining.. One of the other better youtube vids with voice talent performances that are the harder opera songs to sing...

Check this also.. Many just kids.. I'm impressed with them...

You could clearly tell Aretha was losing her dynamics and showing her age in 2015... Voices do lose their power when you age just like in sports.. I remember when Frank Sinatra and even Mariah Carey started losing it.. Whitney Houston too.. Just can't carry those notes anymore.. In rock and roll that goes for the Guns and Roses Axle Rose voice as well.. It goes with age... You lose it slowly..

Don't ever be shy and afraid to fail in life, nothing ventured nothing gained.. If you never tried you'll never know.. Life is short and then you die.. Don't miss out!!!!

As a recording of just that particular aria, there are many, many to choose from. But performing as part of the entire "Turandot" I go with Giuseppe de Stefano. I have a record of it performed with Birgette Nilsson that is at times overwhelmingly good. It's much different to perform that particular aria by itself, with a microphone, and the singer concentrating solely on the song than it is to do it in an opera house as part of the entire production, no mics, and incorporating the acting and body language into the performance.

Sara Brightman did it well on Halloween too.. She's not the best in this though but she was ORIGINAL.. Hot in the original but chubby with Antonia Banderez the actor years later at 6:41 minute in the video..

Phantom of the Opera climax.. Catchy tune check!!!

All hot chicks, amazing voices.. I had to post this up...I'm not into dark stuff but this fits the bill for tonight... ENJOY music lovers and pretty girl lovers with good voices if you can.. I don't expect many on this forum to appreciate this but I will represent..

JIBBBY knows MUSIC and voices.... Happy Halloween to all!!
