I dont believe in the war stories of guys like this you gotta research their backgrounds and see what they come from. common sense tells me the rich and wealthy, especially old money, dont actually fight in wars they direct, their usually over there doing something else other than dodging bullets. just take a look at today you wont see anyone from wealthy backgrounds engaging in something like that why would they it would be literally absurd. in the old days it was something good to have on your resume nothing but ink fodder for simpletons to eat up, its a good look for a politician running for office. trust me the kerry's and kennedy's of the world are not behind enemy lines dodging shell fire, there's more to it than you think.

The more I read up on John McCain's history in war and politics the more I think he really was your typical swampy politician with motives that were more self serving then directed for the people.. He just wanted to make a splash and career out of it.. Make a name for himself and alot of money in the process.. Maverick indeed..

McCain came from wealth and that typical 'dont rock the boat' southern aristocracy.

Then he married into the Hensley family (Anheuser Busch wholesalers) and that's where the real source of his power came from, but also his 'do nothing to rock the boat' 40 years....after all, had he done anything radical it would have cost the family their beer distributorship....

He played both sides like they tend to do in Washington. McCain held office to stall the spread of liberalism, which is by default conservative. McCain never promoted any truly conservative change, and made a career out of suggesting bipartisan efforts, but really they were to effectively stop any legislation from getting done without having to take a stance...and by extension not offending any consumers of Arizonas beer market, which his wife family controlled 80% of.

I did not like John McCain. There was very little I agreed with him on. I normally vote Republican as well but dislike many of them. Again, there was a LOT I didn't like about him and found him to be very smarmy. He was so hung up on his own pride and ego, that he left Arizona without representation. He should have stepped down some time ago but his ego wouldn't let him.

As someone who has lost her father, my heart breaks into a million pieces for his children, his wife, his mother (for goodness sake!! His mother is still alive!!), his grandchildren, and the rest of his family. I can pay my respects without having to kiss his ass. Perhaps you never learned the difference?
