Tell ya story- I was flying over Cocoa Beach right up to the NASA air space and I see this shark, biggest thing I ever saw. I'm lookin over at highway A1A and this shark is the size of the tractor trailers on the highway. I get back to the dorm and tell every body and they act like i'm nuts, nobody believed me.. So i'm watching the 11pm news that night and the anchor says "a whale shark was spotted off of cocoa beach today"lol.... and that was it, a harmless whale shark, but from the air it looks like a regular shark...

I see several guys surfing and some fins were popping up in between the surfers. WTH? One of the guys said they know the risks but they enjoy surfing that much. Fukk that. We went home.

They do make shark repellent devices for surfers that actually do work. This is the most popular.. Sharkbanz 2.. I know I'd wear one if I were surfing in shark infested areas... $75 investment would have saved this kids life and junk..

I think it's number 2 next to New Smyrna in shark attacks. The biggest problem is that a great majority of attacks at Recife are fatal. This guy was a tourist. The locals do not go into the water.

Yes. I have been to recife. The beaches have shark warning signs all over and telling them to swim at their own risk. Recife beaches didn't always have shark problem because about mile or so inwater from the shore there is a long natural reef and sharks never came past the reef. Then the city built a huge port (i think in the 80's or early 90's) and in the process they destroyed big chunk of that reef enabling sharks to come into the shallow waters. there has been many attacks since then.

Surfing is awesome... It's an experience that everyone should have.. I've surfed my entire life up until a few years ago because the water got nasty here in Southern California.. I never got attacked.. Been up close with seals and dolphins, saw a shark a couple times surfing in other Countries but I never got nipped at or attacked.. Florida I did get spooked one time.. Shark got real close.. I bailed out..

I'd wear that Sharkbanz 2 watch today though, no need to take chances.. Sharks are getting a little more spunky these days in the warmer waters.. Humans are not immune to being attacked but it's very rare..
