Anyone remember that Dish Network/Viewsat Receiver decoding? Probably around 2006-2008?? That was some good sh#$ right there. lol You needed to have a Viewsat box that had a USB port. Easy as cake.

Yes, I heard about that. That was in the early 2000’s I think, when they were phasing out the boxes and converting them to digital ones. So the receiver decoding was supposed to be the new “black box”.

I remember the the screen being all grainy your right. You would try to see whatever you could thinking you are seeing some forbidden stuff . Squinting your eyes just hoping to see something . I watched an hour once thinking it was the playboy channel thinking i was watching some forbidden erotic stuff. Three hours later i realized it was the Muppet movie.

Paid $500 for one back around 1997 and was given a 5 year guarantee with it. It lasted almost exactly 5 years before they started to change the cable. Well worth the money for PPV and all of the pay channels.

One rumor was that it was a former DN engineer who knew all the digital coding... and he intentionally was giving out the data on satellite forums. You took the coding from a file.... you'd load it to your USB stick..... take the USB stick to your Viewsat receiver... and boom... you were golden. Then DN would shoot the signal down in 3-4 days... and you'd do it all over again.
