If you've ever worked in the bar/restaurant business you'll know that white males (non-Jewish) are the best tippers. Some Jewish guys are good tippers but many others are frugal. Women in general tip, but are not good tippers. Canadians are notoriously cheap tippers and they like to pretend they don't know they're supposed to leave >15%. Blacks are terrible tippers and will actually stiff you completely.

I always tip well but if you are an adult and your profession is a waiter, you made some bad choices in life. Why would you want to live off of tips?

          For me, it was...

          - $300-$500 cash a night average, despite minorities and foreigners fukking you over

          - Because of something called "tip compliance", was only taxed on $18/hr, when I was usually clearing well over $50/hr.
          - 30 hrs a week average, often less
          - Never boring. Something new every day
          - Oh, $13/hr on top of that because it was union
          - Health care benefits from the culinary union, the largest in Vegas
          - Helped keep me fit because I was always moving
          - Because I was always moving, my work day flew by
          - Always worked with hot girls that liked to flirt

          - Allowed me the free time and energy to hone my trading to where it became sustainable, and allowed me the time and energy to start my business without having to worry about having enough money behind it.

Would I go work at Applebees? Fukk no. But I went to one of the only cities I could take my trade and max it out. Ate shit for a year, then got on to the top places. Just gotta be smart about it.

It was a great choice in life, actually.

Fears on what happens when you send your food back are overrated. Food goes back all the time. Part of the game.

And if you F your server over and come back, I can't speak for what happens. All depends on how vindictive your server was and if they remember you.

I worked in a restaurant for 15 years and can confirm that the full time servers(especially the male ones since there were less of them) made more money than the General Managers who actually went to college.

This is especially true in Vegas, and there's always an underlying resentment there between the management who works long hours, and the servers who work half the hours, make more, and act like divas.

My lady usually makes me tip $13 for a table of too. I use to tip $5 just for my plate if I was with friends at a Chillis or TGIFRIDAY. I don't tip if my order was a mess and had to flag another server for a refill.

Anyone in F&B management that isn't part of ownership gets paid shit.

Always tip 25% or more if things were good. 15% if it was bad.

True. Back then, my pay wasn't too bad for being a kitchen manager, especially when I did new store openings in other cities, but it was long hard hours with no break which not many other employees had to deal with, which did suck.

I always leave a minimum of $5 tip(like $5 tip on a $5 breakfast) until it hits 20%, then I leave more according to the %. Sometimes even more than that if the server was really good.

Yup. A F&B manager at most casinos will earn about 55k per year while working 10-14 hr shifts. That is a shit job.

Can't speak to that, but I know different places run differently. At the Wynn for example, you have to split it with everyone, INCLUDING the pit bosses and other management. This was a big deal years ago, the union sued and lost if I recall.

Even if there's less tipping, there's a lot more hands per hour than Hold'em, so I'd imagine it balances out.

I know who you are talking about you can look all over youtube and what waiters and waitresses say and if they see that specific kind of race they hate serving them because they never tip. Even their OWN race as a waiter or Waitress hates serving them because they will complain forever then at the end leave no tip or one that is an insult. If you cannot afford leaving a tip go eat at Mcdonalds.

Blacks are entitled poor trash. I worked at Red Lobster in college and even the black servers there hated waiting on blacks..

Most blacks are just not meant for civilized society. Too much ghetto in them. Give them a ton of $$$$, and they still aren't good tippers.

I feel bad for any strippers working in black strip clubs... It's gotta be the worst job in the world.

I lied to get a job at Red Lobster. This was 13 years ago. I went in and asked if they had any openings (and I was dressed in black pants, and a tie - really professional for a 23 year old), and luckily the server manager was a female and I think she wanted to hire a few more men there, so she hired me on the spot. I filled out that application and just flat out lied about prior serving jobs I had (I had never had a serving job before). They didn't call anyone and hired me on the spot. The only thing that I couldn't do, that most "pro" servers could do, was take a tray full of drinks and carry them on their shoulder, perfectly flat, no spillage, and not skip a beat. I didn't have the confidence to do that, but I was able to work around it. Serving there was really easy, and like I know some servers would get pissed if they got stiffed (and I only got stiffed once), or if they got bad tips - but the job was so easy that I couldn't really complain if someone only gave me $8 instead of $20. Because the work was really easy. Other than rolling silverware which was a bore, it was the best part time job that I ever had. Before that I had delivered pizzas for Pizza Hut, which wasn't bad either. Not much $$$$ though when you factor in putting miles on your car. I also worked at a sporting goods store in college and the instore discount was worth just being there, even if I was only getting min wage.

Real professional servers at 5 star restaurants can for sure do it as a career though. It all depends on how pricey the food is you are serving. If you are serving $1,000+ dollar tables, its pretty easy to do that as a career. But, I would not want to do that as a career if you are working at a casual dining spot like Red Lobster. When I was there, there was some women there that had been there 10+ years and they were career bitches. You could see the burnout in them. That's a job to do it for a while, and then move on to something else. Easy to get burned out despite the reliable money.

Easy to get burned out despite the reliable money.
eat at red lobster when they have the endless shrimp bartender is alright guy plays at bovada bets small sometimes i ask him who are the worst tippers , he said red lobster changed the policy on mandatory tip with big parties they used to add like 15 pct for parties of whatever it is 5 or 6 or more well they say the servers hate when they get a big group of certain people, a waiter had a party of 6 they all ordered crab legs well over 100 bill and they left ZERO
