#8464 years I worked 10-7 in my early 20's after college, hated it. I knew what the owner made and I wanted to make that. After a couple of years I knew enough to not only do what he did, but do it better and be able to make more. 4 years ago I did just that, spent my last penny opening my own business, wife kept her job for about a month because I wasn't sure if I could replace her income if she quit. Hired her full time a month after opening, doubled her salary and mine... and now hiring 20-somethings to work 10-7 for me while we enjoy life. I don't want to gamble for a living, but I also didn't want to work for a living. I wanted to live for a living. These kids I hire now... not many have what I had 10 years ago. They seem content, and I could never understand it. Nothing wrong with 9-5 if you enjoy it... but there are many paths to success, don't get stuck in some dead end motherfuking job that you hate, fuk security, if you're smart, confident, determined, and the hardest working motherfukker in the room... you can do and be great at anything. Fuk what college you went to, show me how quick you can pick something up, and for a small royalty fee, I too can help you achieve your dreams.Last edited by thellama; 03-19-16, 02:52 AM.Comment -

#849You wake up every morning, get dressed up, drive to work.
You get out of your car, and as you slam the door shut you realize this is your 100342th day at work doing the same thing over and over. Each step towards the building makes you sick to your stomach. You're in the elevator dreading the moment it reaches your floor.
Then you get out, and have to put the stupid fake smile on your face and say hello to everyone on your way to your cubicle or work station. You boot up your computer and your email is already full of
"Can you do this for me before noon? Thanks."
"Please be advised that today is <insert stupid fake day like 'AIDS awareness day'>, and so at 2pm everyone must come down to the lobby for a quick info session followed by tea and stale cookies"
"Hi, I glanced over that report you submitted. Even though I didn't read much, I think you should re-do it. Thanks, management."
You count the minutes until it is quitting time only to go home and get a bunch of bills in the mail. You are going nowhere and have no hope unless you hit the jackpot.
That is why you should gamble.Comment -

#853Mathy the illegal lifestyle is the only way to go. What is the worst thing that can happen?? 2 Years in the joint. I need that for vacation time. I have committed 500-700 felonies in my lifetime and have been caught only twice and both got bid down to misdeamenor with a lawyer and 5K. The jails are crowded this is your time to take a shot. They are letting people out for anything. They care more about DUI's than guns these days. PERFECT ERA TO BE A CRIMINAL!!!Comment -

#856I'm going to take a minute to pontificate on this thread:
* I think Mathy hit a home-run on this thread. This thread kicked off so much discussion.
I think it struck a nerve b/c it touched on a basic dilemma of the human condition, the concept of Time vs Money. Sure, we'd all love to be born into the LS Club and have all our worldly needs taken care of.
More often, we have to enter the work-force to be self-supportive. $$-in has to exceed $$-out, in order to thrive. Ask any working-guy if they enjoy their job. If they're honest, that answer is No.
Somehow, you need to develop a balance between Work and Personal Enjoyment. Too much work...and life becomes a drag. To quote Mike McD from "Rounders", "...your whole life becomes a grind."Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -
