War w/ North Korea Begins Week of 12/4

Gents, I think the day of reckoning is here. The US and South Korea will perform joint military exercises this week but unlike previous joint military training on the Peninsula there will be three aircraft carrier strike groups off the coast that arrived at the end of October coupled with B-2 Stealth fighters that arrived today and of course the rest of the arsenal. Unlike previous military exercises with South Korea, I believe this is a precursor to a preemptive strike because all of the lightning and thunder is locked and loaded and in the same place.

I hope I'm wrong but if it's going to go down, better when all the big sticks are in place and ready to swing.

You make an excellent point. Most Americans view this as something more interesting to talk about than the weather. But the point is, right now there is zero chance a North Korean nuke will arrive at their doorsteps. The same will not be said down the road, which is the very reason for this potential war.

Nth Korea is highly unlikely to ever attack the USA unprovoked, whatever they build.

That reason is much less compelling than invading Iraq over chemical weapons.

It just plays well with the public.

I'm not comfortable that my definition or your definition of unprovoked is the same as Kim Jong-Un. Any rational man would not threaten a 300-pound gorilla based on the unsubstantiated fear his country will be invaded after 60 years of not being invaded. The military drills we conduct with South Korea could be easily be construed as provocation in the future and his dream is to reunite the Korean peninsula. In the future, he could demand ransom for not invading the South and use his nuclear warheads as leverage.

By provoked I really meant, unless the US fired first. I don't expect Kim will fire a nuke first, based on being threatened or even navy manouvres off the coast.
