Berkey is broke? Where did u find that information? If so, that's hilarious.

He has a number of videos out there. I didn't find his game to be spectacular at all.

Two elements of poker broke stories, imho:
1) How much do these guys over-rate their talent?
2) There's always the "buy a piece of me" angle. How many guys are truly worth a 5% markup?

When u figure that the tourney rake is at least 10%...the player has to out-perform Average by at least 20%. How many players can consistently do that?

Solve for Why Academy backed a guy who ran deep in the Main this year...forget his name but he was final table. Im sure Berk got a big lump of that stake... Give me a few days to catch up on their vlogs and ill check back in. Been working non-stop lately but have a few days off coming up. Cheers

Nic Manion is who you're thinking of. He's from my hometown. Berkey or anyone else at S4Y had none of his action. The mans far from broke though...

Hmmm. Thanks for your reply but I think you are mistaken. In the pokerGo/espn commentary it said he was staked the $10k buy-in by the S4Y Academy. I'll see if I can find the clip, I could be wrong

Looks like Manion had 47% of himself....the article does not say who his backers were but one would assume the S4Y guys were the 50% nut.

After he busted, he was escorted to the cash-out cage, where he had to fill out paperwork.
There, they asked how much he wanted in cash and how much he wanted in wire transfer. He got enough cash to pay a 3-percent backer his cut and then enough for himself and his 50-percent backer to have some fun for a few days in Vegas.

I know him and some of the guys who were there personally. Again, no one from S4Y had any of his action. 2 guys from his hometown paid his entry into 2 satellites and said if he gets in the main, they split it 50/50. And the 3 percent was someone he swapped action with while playing.
