    Chess people please check in
    Let me give my background:
I think I'm pretty decent at chess. I beat most people I play, but most people don't play chess. In the actual chess world I'm probably below average. Where can I learn terms for certain openings and how to teach others (because I need to teach 6th and 7th grade).

I mean the first bit will be how the pieces moves (yes I know that u fukks) but I need moves like the ruy lopez..and yes I know that, but I need more and more to teach

where can I get an exact breakdown of how to play chess??

    Thanks men and women

There was a chess thread a while ago, OP will get more out of that (because the comments here are retarded) if you can find it through search.

Rudy it just looks like a book that covers both learning and learning to teach chess.

Yeah, I used to play, it was pretty competitive back then before computers,
I travelled for the team to other schools in junior high.

Since I learned and played always on a real chessboard, I've never gotten
acclimated to the flat-top view games online. Players I can beat on a real chessboard
sitting down in real life whoop my ass on the computer screen cuz I just can't visualize
moves on anything but a real board sitting on a table.

ok I could possibly give you some advice as I used to be 2122 some 13 years ago at chess)

So in order to play chess well - u have to develop 2 skills: practical knowledge of chess strategies, physical ability/mental fitness so to speak to count moves ahead and analize foreseen positions before the moves are made.

My coach taught me first principles mainly from mark dvoretzky's books ( intermediate to advanced levels). Beginners level strategies such as seize the centre in the beginning, learn to develop right all pieces before attempting flank attacks, fighting for open lines with rooks, etc you can find somewhere online easy more or less - but a key to becoming good is not just reading, looking and thinking u got it. We used to do say 20 exercises on each strategical concept - where you have a position and u have to choose right moves. And after your decision is made - you check with the book - if you were right or wrong.

Counting moves is developed by exercise as well - beginners only see 1-2 moves ahead - 2100-2200s - 10-20 moves depending on how complicated position is.

Chess is far more complicated than poker - some people learn and grasp principles of the game easy and fast some take time. M

My advice is do exercises and learn strategical principles, how to play rook endings, other endings too for say an hour each day. and practise on chess.com - 15 minute regulation games or so. Don't play blitz you barely learn anything from it.

http://www.chessgym.net/flash/exercises.php can be used for endings for instance and for moves counting practise, but what i dont like about it they dont seem to categorize tactics exercise into groups - so how the heck is the learner learning any specific tactics unless he figures them out by himself?

http://exeterchessclub.org.uk/x/FTP/TacticsCourse.pdf here's a great list of tactics ideas - now if you find 20 exercises to each one of them - you ll be set for a while exercisewise.
https://thechessworld.com/articles/p...lems-hardcopy/ - here's problems, but try to find some that are broken down to what concept you are exercising.
Openings - teach your kids to play 1 for black for d4 and one for e4 and common openings for white.
Beginners level u dont need to focus on openings too much as they have to learn winning games in the middle and in the end.

the sequense of learning endings is Pawn only first, then rook endings, then bishop/knight, then queen endings - first two are the most essential as they are most frequent( won me most points in career for sure).

openings wise - if your student is aggressive player( like i was ) advice him to learn - sicilian defense for e4 and something like benoni or old-indian defense for black for d4. - if he is a position player - e4-e5 and something classic like d4-d5 for black. If you have more questions will be glad to help
