The silver lining in this is that it is prolly ok if the kids didnt risk their lives
to help someone who put himself in danger . The kids might of drowned
But the thing is the kids could of done anything different than laugh at him and all this would not be a issue
Id of stripped down into underwear and helped him or tried to , but I also am a very avid swimmer

If he would of panicked and started drowning me Id break off and save my own life

Those kids were black and although they naturally have more muscle definition and athleticism on average than white
for whatever reason most of them dont know how to swim . Im not sure why though , its either they were never shown
or were not around water much because they have the anatomy to be great swimmers

They didn't have to risk their own life to save him, but laughing about it while it's happening is hard to fathom.

As far as blacks not being able to swim, I used to subscribe to that bone density theory but pretty sure that's a myth. I think it could be one of two things:

-Learning to swim at a young age is usually coupled with a nurturing environment and caring parent(s). Think about it, didn't you learn to swim with your mom or dad in the pool with you carefully helping you along? Most black kids just don't have that kind of upbringing, and I think it's much harder to learn in your teens or adulthood because the fear and dangers are comprehended much more

-Could just be a visceral, genetic fear or aversion to water similar to gorillas

I believe he was despondent after a fight with his fiancee. Maybe he was going to kill himself and changed his mind. Kinda hard to judge him. How many non disabled people drown because of poor judgement around water??? A ton.
I would like to say I am surprised that black males would have no regard for human life but it is quite obvious that haven't cared about it for quite some time.

One of the prevailing theories on why black people don't learn to swim is that their parents never learned to swim because the grandparents never learned and never taught the parents.

Learning to swim almost solely rests on the parents knowing how to swim and teaching the kids. There was a time, just a couple of generations back, where black people were not allowed to swim in American public pools, so many never learned.

It may even go back further generations.

That has trickled down to today.
