#7Black bears typically not aggressive unless you get yourself between their cubs then you will get fuked up. I would be more worried about mountain lions and wolvesComment -

Bill, this is the best tip you will receive.
Take Shute along to film the adventure.
Good luck.Comment -

I remember when this guy had a lucrative gig playing keys at Showbiz before Chuck E. Cheese came through and cleaned house.
A riches to rags story. I would go ape-shit too, poor guy.

#18I never understood the camping thing. Why would you want to go in the woods with bears and snakes? Is that fun or something?Comment -

#19Ahhhh... dispersed camping. I've fallen for that before. Listen: if they offer you any funny-looking liquids in dixie cups do NOT partake. And if you do and you wake up with no pants on, remember not to sit down right away... there will be some discomfort.Originally posted by Bigbill365I am supposed to go camping it's called dispersed camping in a national Forest anyone know anything about that?Comment -

#20Take a little LED light and hook it to your clothes. 1x a year I hit a buddies fishing cabin.
After Beer & Scotch, my little light is essential.Comment -

unless you're packing heat and sleep in rotations.
i used to rough it in the woods - you have to know where the animals are
for each season and their migration and breeding patterns
nocturnal predators are the most dangerous
attracting them with meat smells - then falling asleep can be foolish
so cooking meat is more dangerous at dusk onward.Comment -

As long as you dont sleep next to a creek in alligator country, can sleep under the stars anywhere without fear of being eaten alive by anything!.Comment -

#25bring a camping mate, you don't even need to be close friends just as long as he is chubby and you can easily out run... and bears will be nothing to worry about.Comment -

#28I camp and backpack all the time.Originally posted by Bigbill365I am supposed to go camping it's called dispersed camping in a national Forest anyone know anything about that?
Dispersed camping is just designated areas to camp with no amenities. You crap in the woods and you must bring your own food and water but your usually not far from other people.
Find out if you pull your car up to the sites or if you have to hike it. Big difference between hiking to an area and driving to it.
One thing people frequently forget is bug spray. Don't use deet. It will melt your stuff. Look up Sawyers Fisherman's Formula.Comment -

#30Take a GPS, a whistle, always have box of matches, lighter, compass and water on you at all times. Whenever you go to a new location, memorise any landmarks, particularly tall hills/trees, a clearing, something you can recognise if you get lost.Comment -
