Running fast at a pretty good speed - probably 10 or so. Jogging at a slow pace (14 minute miles) - I can go all day. I've finished 5 marathons and my average time is 5 1/2 hours. Jogging slow, no stopping, no walking, chatting with a lot of hot women.

Jogging is a waste of time. Do sprints/high intensity interval training

It's amazing how there's people on this planet that can run a mile in under 4 mins, that's about how long it takes me to bike a mile.
Never been good at long distance, but I can do 4 laps at about 8-9 min mile. I did it a couple times without earphones in. It's sad, about a lap or so in I could hear my breathing, then for the next 3 laps all I could think about is what pathetic shape I'm in compared to hs/college days. I can do another 4 laps at a slow jog, then it's like wtf am I doing. Exercise like that isn't optimal imo, many other activities to do that will net you the similar results health wise that aren't as boring.

I can do 8 miles at 8 min per mile pace without stopping. If I slowed it down a bit more, I imagine I could do at least 10 miles without stopping - which is just over 40 laps of a track.

Hell there ars are a few that can do two straight miles very close to 4:00-4:02 pace
Half the male population of the US would have trouble running one lap of a 400 meter track at elite marathon pace
hell there are many here who couldn't do it for 100 meters all out sprint at marathon pace

I'm a midget - 5 ft 7, 140lbs
I have friends that do half marathons at that pace, so I'm pretty damn average compared to them!
I really don't take care of my diet at all. If anything, I run to keep the weight off from all the bad food I eat.
I'm not a natural runner/athlete at all. When I first took up running about 5 years ago, I was doing 3 miles at 12 minutes per mile and getting totally gassed. These days, 8 miles at 8 mins each leaves me tired, but not feeling like I'm going to pass out.
The key if you're not a natural runner (IMO) is to make sure you run regularly. Stamina and speed will gradually increase as a result. I run at least 3 times a week. If I were to take a break for a month or two (as I have done in the past), I find I'm almost back to square one is terms of speed and stamina.
