Russia: 99 percent of ballistic missiles on combat alert

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu says that 99 percent of his country’s ballistic missiles
are on combat alert.

"Today, the Strategic Missile Force is maintained at the level allowing for reliably solving
nuclear containment tasks. A total of 99% of launchers are in a combat-ready state and
96% of them are constantly ready for an immediate launch," Shoigu said during a
Wednesday meeting.

He added that Russia is currently developing a state of the art missile system with the
ability to bypass an echeloned anti-missile defense system.

The announcement was made a day after the US military conducted
its first-ever intercept test of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM)

Russia says US-led forces collude with Daesh

Russia has accused the US-led forces in Syria of providing safe passage to the Daesh Takfiri terrorists to leave the area around Raqqah, the group’s main stronghold in Syria.

US-led forces along with the allied Kurds "collude with the leaders of the Daesh, who surrender the areas under their control and head to provinces where Syrian government forces operate," the commander of the Russian forces in Syria, Colonel General Sergei Surovikin, said on Friday.

The Russian commander in Syria also criticized Washington for trying to block Syrian government forces from taking control of the country's southern border.

Moscow may seize US property if Washington fails to return the Russian diplomatic compounds it confiscated late last year.

Russia reportedly plans to confiscate US diplomatic property in Moscow and alter the legal status of an Anglo-American school in the country unless Washington returns the Russian diplomatic compounds seized late last year.


Citing unnamed diplomatic sources, Moscow-based daily Kommersant reported Friday that the Kremlin demands the return of the two Russian buildings prior to a potential meeting between President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, at the upcoming G20 summit in Germany in July.


The Russian compounds in Maryland and New York were seized by the former US administration in December 2016 over its allegation of Moscow’s involvement in hacking the US 2016 presidential election.
