The reasoning behind this thread was not to make fun of Shari, but to point out the inconsistency of these 'racial' infractions and gather public opinion on this matter (mission accomplished).
We had a normal adult-like discussion here, up until Shari showed up and called everyone a Bitch - again not surprising at all to anyone in this thread.
I think all of the outstanding questions got answered as far as I'm concerned. So if you're itching to ban someone- ban me...but leave the rest of the guys alone, as they haven't done anything at all against the rules.Comment -

My point is I shouldn't be given an infraction period so often for such petty crimes. Especially, if others (proof posted in this thread) are not being warned for far more serious offenses.

You're trying to focus on one word. It's not usually about a word. It's context.
If it's angry/hateful, off topic, directed at a poster personally, ignites a thread into a flurry of other similar posts, if it's the third thread the mod goes into that day and you are the one in all three fanning along bigoted posts, it makes more difference than the word. And maybe if Shari is at the end of her rope with you as well.
Nobody here wants to act like the PC police but SBR wants to keep the place semi friendly for all and before the rule was brought in there were public complaints daily about the level of racism on the forum. It was mostly due to a small number of people stirring it up in every thread and once they were gone so did all the complaints about site content.
So for me, the SBR choice to just send selected warnings here and there rather than try to stamp out every bigoted comment seems to have worked well and feels like a much better solution than some fixed word list no one can use.
People say pretty much what they want, and no one much notices the moderation team.

True that USCPHILLY. I get the whole bigot/racist/homophobic thing if its directed at someone, but if just in an attempt at a joke is that not allowed as well? Ive seen a lot of that here and as a guy in a long term relationship with a mixed race woman (1/2 black and mexican) she has too and has found most of it quite hilarious. I read the first post post and dont have time to read the rest of the thread. Its the word mudshark. Harmless, funny or whatever its a potty word for shari. If I remember correctly she basically banned a guy a few years back (think it was TheCentaur) for his repeated use of the term.
Generally harmless in my eyes. I can understand acting out/removing/ against blatant hate speech but its a fine line when you start getting into innuendo and context. Racism, sexism, homphobia and a bunch of other shit are going to be present anytime you have a gathering where most remain anonymous. A large group whos common interest of gambling led them here will be no different. So they only truly way to be fair is to take a hard line stance on the blatant, obvious stuff and figure out how to get over the innuendo and let it slide. Otherwise, it becomes a very selective process of who gets banned/infractions based on who is liked/disliked by whatever mod or admin is working at the time.Comment
