Scenario at Target, what would you do?

You get $200 of stuff at Target. Cashier checks you out and you Ask to swap $2 for change in quarters. You pay with your card but never type in your pin code. You think it's strange but whatever. Maybe she ran it as credit?

Upon looking at the receipt while outside the store you notice the cashier tendered your entire transaction as cash and it never charged your card. This is $200 of stuff, not like she forgot to scan a can of soup.

From years of managing a retail store, you know this cashier, who was either new or not properly trained, will likely either get her hours cut or even fired. ...what if you don't know that. How many of you turn around, go back into the store and pay?

Wouldn't be so quick to assume she didn't charge your card. It's entirely possible (and likely) when she finalized the transaction at the register she hit the cash key instead of charge. Totals right, just throws off the balance between cash/credit. Assuming your debit card is also V/M C, she probably ran it as credit (no pin required). If you/she swiped your card, you more than likely got charged.


Edit: Just noticed your receipt, if that's a Target card then ignore my post. Don't know if they require pin # or not.

Won't lie, when I was broke as fuk, had no real life experience, and was in my 20s, I would have kept it and justified it by saying that mistakes have consequences, and it wasn't MY fault that it happened or anything, and that a lot of unlucky shit has happened to me in the past, so this is just the universe balancing it out.

Different of course now, but same person, different ways of thinking about it all depending on time and place in life.

Let's face it, she's a cashier at target. So if you didn't go back and she got fired, she could get a similar job very easily.

when you return to the store, you approach the cashier and tell her what happened and offer to pay, she will most likely be confused and would have to call a supervisor anyways.

So either way she's probably fukked. Guess it depends on the attitude of the supervisor.
