This goes for the independent men, not the guy's living with mom.
What state are you in and pay for rent, utilities, and cable/Internet.

Rent. Lol.
I own several rental properties, but I damn sure wouldn't recommend paying someone rent if you can own. As low as mortgages are currently, owning a home is the way to go. But this has always been true.

High tax area renting better
Housing at a top
Anyone paying low rent lives in a poor area or a banged up unit
1600 or more weeds out trash as far as an apartment
Any nice area 2000 minimum

Try doing that in California and see what happens. I know owninga home is the way to go but in California, it's triple the price for what you have in Texas.
In San Diego, 2 bedroom houses are starting at about $450k, if you're lucky too. The square footage is smaller compared to houses in Texas too.

I pay a little over $1100 for a good sized 2 bedroom apartment outside of Seattle.
Currently looking to buy a house. Just sent in a loan applicating and was told i can barely get any loan. Due to a few things, i have real low income but high in assets. They said that doesn't do me any good. Wouldn't you rather give a loan to someone who has 200k to their name but has low income. Rather than someone who has zero assets (liquid or hard) but makes good income.

Seattle, 3000/month
Own multiple properties and in the process of selling many of them
Great time to sell, plus I'm about to max out what I borrow, and get a place in Seattle prime location that needs work and is undervalued. My wife has an uncle here that is a contractor and has said he will help with all work on the house, then we're going to build a 500-600sqft backyard cottage (thank you, SEattle) and rent it out.
Then I'll have the property appraised, and take out a loan on the new assessment
I'm about to be leveraged to the hilt
