The reality is that with interest rates as low as they are, it doesn't make much difference if you let the govt hold on to extra tax money for a few months. You won't have much return holding it in a savings account or money market. If you own a business, then this is a different story. But for non-business owning degens, it may be a good idea to let the IRS hold some cash for you for a little while.

Yes, most here know I work for the I.R.S., I'm an RN in their medical ops division but in our down time we audit w-2's, 10-99's, 401k's, 410b's, as well as C310 forms
