Are Baby Boomers to Blame For The Millenial Generation's Entitlement Attitude?

These are kids of baby boomers who were given everything and were made to believe that they are owed something without having to work hard. Tolerance only when they want it but intolerance when things dont go their way. How did Millenials become so liberal and godless? Why are so many college kids socialists? Baby boomers messed up and should take the blame

In not sure. I was born in 1989 and feel like my generation is very entitled. It really irks me cause I'm a big time conservative. I believe that if you work hard you can succeed in America but all of my peers (not my circle of friends) seem to blame everyone else for their problems.

I started working when I was 17, and although I didn't move out right away I began contributing to the household. After I got my first paycheck my parents never had to support me in anyway. Of course I still ate their food and lived in their house but most of my friends parents paid for their college, their insurance, and gave them fun money. I would of never accepted anything from my parents and still never have.

I never went to school but I was always fairly bright. I started working in transportation and logistics and was making at the age of 19 what some of these college grads hoped to make out of college. Living on my own I was still saving 60% of my take home pay. I eventually bought a house with a good downpayment. Everyone else sits around and complains about student loans, how unfair it is that some people have all the money, and how bad insert political figure is. All while having the newest designer clothes, phones, and cars. This is because they deserve it.

My parents didn't necessarily raise me this way. My parents were democrats and typical consumerist Americans. They spent 105% of their income like most and lived above their means. The first time I asked about democrats and republicans my dad told me the republicans were for the rich. This is the type of dumbfound grasp they had on politics. However they did raise me to be a saver and I did that well and that habit stuck with me through adulthood. When I got my first great paying job instead of buying a new car, iPhone, or other material item I invested that money in 2009, at the best time you could have and my returns have been amazing.

i guess what I'm saying is parents can and do shape childrens lives but I think the individual is as much to blame as the parents. Some of these kids have degrees and are book smart but have no common sense as to how the world works.

Over population and over pollution can only go so far, oh and unless the baby boomers want to work till their death bed they better hope there's some change.

Until then like I said I don't care anymore, rain forests are over rated, coral reefs suck and I love cities growing faster than infrastructure can handle as I don't live in one, just wish they wouldn't bother me on long weekends and summer holidays.

It's true all of the people I know of similar age are mostly self centered idiots that think they should get everything they want without having to do anything in return. Their solution if they don't get their way is to protest it and if that doesn't work resort to violence. I'm actively planning on just breaking away from everyone I know and moving to a small town/rural area, somewhere far away from it all. As far as I'm concerned these millennial idiots can burn it down and shoot each other in the cities. They're all useless eater idiots anyway. America is done. It will devolve into a second world country over the next 2 to 3 generations, if current trends continue. Most Americans are already fat, lazy and broke as it is now.

I've just entered my early 30s, I feel sorry for young ones coming up social media is just brutal.

Laziness is a thing (and I'm a great example as shown above by not caring) but I think social media will change this, gone are the days where posting about something actually means anything you need a picture or vid of you doing it.

I grew up in the punk/hardcore scene and it appears those values don't die! Even though I haven't been to a show in years!

And America isn't done you guys have an incredible country full of amazing people. I wasn't a fan of either candidate (would of voted Jill Stein if I was an American, don't be too hard on me!) but there's a very good chance you've chosen the right one. I don't buy into media bullshit so looked into Trumps actual policies early and there's some really good examples of which he can make a real difference. But of course the media buy into 'build a wall' etc, that doesn't mean anything the guy deserves a shot and he'll be under more pressure and scrutiny than probably any president ever, feel for him a bit to be honest.

At least we don't have to see how Clinton/Putin would of played out and that can only be a good thing imo.

I always find it funny when I see non-Millennials calling Millennials lazy. When all of the statistics point to the contrary. I was born in 1988, was working at the age of 15, was managing a restaurant at the age of 18, moved out at 19, bought my first new car at 19 as well. Gathered experience in multiple fields of employment so I always had a fall back in case of tough times, while going to college.

Started my own business after I was tired of being micromanaged. Now am able to live comfortably while my wife goes to school and doesn't get paid for an externship. All while raising 2 young children.

There are plenty of entitled Millennials, just as there are with any generation, but the expansion of technology (ie the Internet) makes it much easier to see them. Before the internet came around, how would one know if others were complaining? Read it in the newspaper or see it on the television? Now you just have to hop on any social networking site and it is right in front of you, SBR included.

I view myself as moderate, I was not a fan of either of the main candidates and did vote for Clinton. However, I have looked into some of Trump's plans and am looking forward to some aspects. There are many many issues going on with the US, and as many Millennials are in their early-20's they aren't happy with the state of things. They certainly didn't cause them when they were 9 and 10 years old, so blaming the older generation is the route they take, justified in some cases and not in others. Now they, or we I suppose, are starting to get a larger voice and role in government and many aren't pleased with seeing themselves lose an election due to the same people they feel caused the issues in the first place.

As for why are so many liberal, I know the majority of my teachers in grade school were liberal and, while not exactly pushing their agenda, would make it clear how they felt. I'm sure that had some to do with it, others may just be rebelling against their parents or siding with them. Personally, my father is EXTREMELY conservative, to the point where it was nauseating to see him be incapable of blaming any issues on a Republican.

As for being godless, I do not believe in god at all. I don't understand how anyone could, honestly, but I could careless if they do or not. As long as they don't try to talk to me about it they can carry on with their own ideas. However, when they try to force their beliefs on me then it becomes an issue.

Calling all Millennials entitled is like calling every Baby Boomer a narcissist. There are plenty examples of each, but the majority are not.

I also believe alot of voters for Hillary didn't feel they needed to get out and vote because they believed Trump didn't have a shot... Democrat number of total votes were down big from 4 years ago.. The Dems got lazy and they lost just that simple..

I for one do not buy into the generalizations of different demographics of people based on birth date, or race. I really do think it all way too overblown.

I have two sons that are 18 & 20 now and just watching these excellent young men mature, and getting to know all of their friends over the last decade has me thinking we are in very good hands. These "kids" are now adults and they are for the most part smarter than me, and most all of them are very hard working... and they all grew up in upper-middle class homes.

Everybody tends to look at the generation younger then their own and think the sky is falling... don't be that guy.

I don't smoke and I never used drugs. I have struggled with a drinking problem at different stages during my life but I've thankfully never got in trouble because of it. We all have flaws.
