weddings and funerals are cottage industries that have turned into scams. no need for either in our society. no one wants to go to either event but feel compelled to due to social ramifications. wedding planners and funeral directors have their customers right where they want them and overcharge without hesitation. giving up a june saturday have most muttering "just what i want to to do this weekend, have to show up to my bosses daughter's dumb-ass wedding to save face at work" it's her 2nd marriage for chrissakes. now i have to fork over at least 100.00 to avoid being marked as a cheapskate. or they say " i can't believe i have to get dressed to go this 90 yr old father of a co-workers funeral and say i'm sorry to the right people when the dead person wishes no one would have to show up to see me planted" horrible way to spend they day in both cases. when someone you know dies just pretend they moved 7 states away. if someone one wants to get married and automatically give up 50% of all their current and future assets, go do it in town or city hall or find a JP. leave me out of it, i don't want to know or go.

That is way too many weddings you are going to. And you are right i hate going to ones that you know will end in a divorce. Some are separated a few months later. There should be a law if you get married and split less then 2 years you give all the gifts back. I when i go to a wedding always give this gift and this poster that way the word gets around and they stop asking me.

Weddings suck... I don't go too many even when invited.. Friends get pissed off but they get over it as I'm a dick in these regards... I always give a nice wedding gift regardless though..

Usually the weddings are far away and it's either a plane flight or a very long drive away to get there.. It's too much of a hassle and besides everyone gets divorced a few years later so what's the point?..
