I am. I actually started getting gout in my mid 20's. I'm on medication and only had three flare-ups in the past 10 years, and those were based on forgetting to take the medication for a few days and eating shellfish. I do have my fair share of beer and nothing ever happens.

If you do get on the medication just be prepared to get gout 2 or 3 times the first month. It's just what happens when you start taking it. My doctor didn't tell me and I was on vacation when I had a flare-up and needed to go to the hospital to get a shot.

I take Allopurinol as prescribed by my doctor. Try to get it because it really brings down your uric acid.

I take Allopurinol as prescribed by my doctor. Try to get it because it really brings down your uric acid.

I'm on Allopurinol as well. I still get a flare up every few months or so when I forget to drink enough water. Used to only hit my big toe on my right foot, but now it hits in the center of my right foot and hurts like a bitch. And it always hits me about 3:00 a.m. when I'm sleeping.
