    Windows 10.....Should I or shouldn't I?
I've stuck with Windows 7 throughout the years. I upgraded to Windows 8 and went back to 7 within a week.
I hated the Windows 8 interface, some things that should be simple ( I believe finding the control panel was one of those)seemed to be impossible.

Well I've continued to ignore the constant pop-ups from Microsoft about upgrading to Windows 10. But........
the free upgrade offer expires on July 29th and I'm wondering if I should pull the trigger or not.

My daughter said she took the upgrade and her computer is working much faster and doesn't lag with apps and games like it did when she was using Windows 8.

I've heard some good things and some bad things about Windows 10, But the bad things I hear really make me hesitate. Some of the bad things I've heard are.....
    - It forces you to use apps you might not want to use and you can't UNinstall them.
    - Say goodbye to privacy because it pretty much reports EVERYTHING you do back to Microsoft, be it legal or illegal, online casino or sportsbetting at offshore casinos. I've heard that it will actually delete files or software on your computer without your permission that Microsoft deems pirated and will block access to websites ( Online casinos ) that it feels you should NOT be allowed access to. If this is true, that is VERY intrusive on your privacy and sounds like Microsoft wants full control over what you do on your private computer.
    - Drivers for apps ( such as Flash Player )seem to take a crap a lot.
    - People have reported that there hard drive has crashed almost immediately after installing the upgrade.

Now if I go ahead and upgrade I will definitely back up my files in case the system takes a crap and I can always go back to Windows 7 if I don't like it, but I wanted to hear from some of you guys who have made the jump to Windows 10 and let me know if you like it or if you had problems.

My relatively old desktop pc seems faster and sharper with windows 10 as opposed to windows 7, however, for my laptop that relatively has the same specs, windows 7 is much better.

I asked the Best Buy geek squad about upgrading to 10 when I was there last. I'm running 7. He said 7 isn't
as compatible as 8 to go to 10. He didn't recommend doing it.

My wife's lap top is running 8 and she hates it. Runs slow, hard to find control panel, etc. Might up grade.

Back in the day, computer geeks said never to upgrade from what you already have, because of all the glitches
that occur, unless you are really computer savy.

do it. The free upgrade expires in a couple weeks. Love Windows 10. I did the free upgrade months ago. Everything runs better and quicker. I had Windows 8 before the upgrade and I liked it but Windows 10 is excellent.

            Definitely get it!

              I have 7 on 2 computers and won't upgrade.
If i had 8 running I would upgrade to 10.

windows 7 was my fav. O/S by a long shot. upgraded to windows 10 and it's 100000000000x better than Windows 8.1.

It's very very very similar to Windows 7. they dont push all that touchscreen/tablet crap on you. the desktop experience is virtually identical to Windows 7. dont be afraid, it's worth the $100 free upgrade before the end of July.

heh.. I'm still using Vista and will never upgrade it, loved XP.
I started with 3.1 if anyone remembers that..

another laptop I own had Windows 8.1 installed, after dealing
with that I will never upgrade a Windows product.

Vista was terrible. I loved XP and Windows 7 is a close approximation in terms of functionality while having a more modern look. Windows 8 was terrible IMO and windows 10 maybe decent for general user everyone else is pointless to upgrade from 7.

My favourite was windows 98. I liken it to an old car, I knew it inside out and could fix every nook and crany...Now the new stuff is all too complicated.

I hated 8 for a ton of reasons. (start button for one, or lack of one I should say)
                          Tiles are clutter, etc. etc.

Defiantly upgrade to 10, it's so much better if you are a gamer.

I'm an I/T OA in real life, my desktop pc at work still runs Pro 7, and I'm not upgrading any time soon.

Does windows 10 upgrade the browser inside of excel? Espn no longer works for me to scrape data, says the browser is unsupported.

                              Sorry haven't checked in.

Thanks for the input guys. After seeing your input and talking to other people who have upgraded, it seems the upgrade
may work better going from Windows 8 than it does going from Windows 7. Plus the lack of privacy rumors kinda got me spooked
                              a little.

I think I'll stick with Windows 7. It still works fine and until it starts becoming a compatibility problems with newer software I'm
not going to worry too much about it. I'll be due for a new desktop PC in the next year or two anyway.

Those were debunked a while ago. There are plenty of options to turn off any type of "tracking". Windows is not giving all of your information to Microsoft. If you liked Windows 7 you'd love Windows 10.
