If you live in the United States and go hungry you are an idiot and want to starve. There is so much free food out there for needy families it is ridiculous. Even if you don't get food stamps you can go to any church out there and they will give you food. Do you know how much food our grocery stores throw away that is still technically fresh? It is ridiculous how much food is in this country.

capitalism also allows for a lot of waste, restaurants throw away hundreds of dollars in edible food each day because it's less costly than trying to save it or for fear of serving spoiled food which could lead to lawsuits/shut down etc...all the homeless and hungry could be fed if we could figure out a way to get the food to them...but that costs money and carries risk as well so it just doesn't happen often..
