Men Just Bought a MacBook Pro 15.5" I7 2.4GHz 8GB 256GB SSD Retina CG
It's a 2013 I got for 1000 with a year warranty. Never have had MacBook but iPhones since 07 and iPad 2 for a few years now. Thoughts? Help? Pros? Cons? Thanks

To play poker you are going to have to download winebottler and then get mad when it freezes at least 3 times a night.

That's extremely expensive for a 3 year old computer. Can buy anew one from Best Buy open box for like $1100

Think you might be right men. Had a $200 credit from Gazelle about to expire so was checking out their certified items. I'd use it a lot for online poker so if this would be an issue I'm not sure.

Just SBR poker? If not, most sites have downloads for Apple. But AR is right, winebottler can be annoying. Mine doesn't freeze, but sometimes if I drag a table the table itself turns black.
Other than that, I had one IMac that nothing ever went wrong with it in the five years I used it. Eventually I bought a new one last year and no issues so far.

I use winebottler on my mac and I don't have any problems. The only problems I have is if I update my mac sometimes I can't use winebottle for poker and I need to redownload SBR poker a few times to play each time.

But I want to add is that no other computer is like a mac. I can click on any link I want and I don't have to worry, it also doesn't freeze and has the best trackpad without lag.

1000 for a 2013 model? you got ripped off.
you do realize the in technology, 2 years depreciates more than 50% and some become obsolete.

If you picked up an Apple refurb from Apple then it's a solid pickup. They do not reissue crap, their brand is too important to chintz like that.
I still have a MacBook pro from 2010 that I use regularly. I replaced a battery about 2 or 3 years ago.

sounds like you want to stay with Apple but I bought a new Asus laptop for dirt cheap($230) a year ago or so and still working perfectly
95% I use it for surfing net and poker...your needs might be different than mine though but it suits my needs
laptops usually shit the bed after a few years so I don't like to spend too much on them

Sorry to tell you but the real price on that Mac is about 300-400 bucks...and I'm being very generous here.
Also forget about this winebottler bullshit.
If you wanna run poker on Mac without any interruptions...and you if you wanna run any Windows-only applications in general, you'd need to simulate a Windows environment on your machine.
The best and the most efficient way to run any Windows apps on MAC is to have something like VMWare or Parallels installed on your Macbook (That's how the Big Boys do it).
Both will allow you to run a virtual and independent Windows environment where you can install SBR Poker, launch Internet Explorer...watch Porn and so on.
Best of luck!

My bad...Thought I did search for '13...let me check again
But like I've sad -- Pawn Shops is a gold mine...for slightly used or even new electronics
You got a great computer...you just paid a shitty price that's all
See, every year they design new computers to accommodate newer/faster operating systems, software and so on. Every day, the entire WEB is trying to be more quicker. Companies are constantly redesigning their websites and updating their hardware to be more robust and secure.
You probably have seen a lot of times it would say on the computer's sticker "Designed for Windows 10"...that shit is there for a reason.
You wouldn't throw WIN10 on a 5 year old computer..cos it would choke...it would run but it will be slow.
Same with your computer, it's probably great and will be great for many years to come for you...because you just do some basic stuff on it. But it's already 3 years old and you might run into a problem down the road when you'd try to run on it some... I don't know...the latest and greatest piece of software, but your machine would be too outdated for it.
