    Dental work questions
I need some work done now, looking for advice or past experiences on having a bridge put in or dental implants or dentures or whatever is available. (Dentist today quoted me a price and told me a bridge is the best option.)

Has anyone had like a 2-4 tooth bridge put in before? What is it exactly if you have had one before?? (do not say youtube videos, they look nasty and I still am confused regardless, I need a degen that has had dental stuff done before to explain). I assume it is like a denture thing that comes in and out of your mouth or is it permanent work???

If you needed to replace a few teeth would you have a bridge done that costs roughly 4k AFTER insurance or would you get implants for those specific teeth? I would prefer the long term option if I have to spend this kind of money so which one is slightly more EV?

I am also assuming the costs are around the same for both procedures. I have half a mind to just have my entire grill ripped out for a shiny platinum one to launch my new middle aged white guy rap video with.

Also please leave the smart azz comments for some other thread, I am aware already that brushing your grill 7x a day and flossing 7x can prevent this from happening in the first place, wish I had heeded it during my infantry days but alas I didn't

I have no clue about bridges either....

But my mom still had her original teeth... just looked bad from smoking her entire life....

She had her entire mouth capped. I guess they put something over your existing teeth? They were all white... perfect looking. She told me it didn't bother her chewing or anything.... and it looked 100% natural. She said it was the best thing she ever did. That was many years ago... I don't know the cost to do an entire mouth though?

Do you have a tooth missing? Is it the front teeth?

Oh yea sorry Cash I should've given a little background.

I broke a tooth on an obstacle overseas, the little one in between my front teeth and my fang/canine? one. They extracted what was left of it and made like a fake tooth for me that I refused to wear. Basically have just gone hockey night in America with it ever since. Well last week I busted the other tooth on the other side of my front teeth....it is salvagable still but my dentist says a bridge will get my smile rocking again and is the best option.

I have had several fillings done and I have had my wisdom teeth removed but other than that never had a root canal or anything like what I now need so I am a little concerned.

It is a lot of money to spend on this but I can't walk around in public looking like Duncan Keith jr without the millions or the fame.

Anyway thanks for the comments, Money I would do veneers but you need to have a solid tooth still and two of mine are basically gone now. That option is no beuno but thank you for the comments.

No problem I didn't know the terminology of all the cosmetics of dentistry. I hope you make a wise choice. Life sucks... doctors, dentists... lawyers... all out to make money on you. Best of luck.

Yeah a fixed bridge will mean 2-3 teeth will basically be replaced by crowns and it will be in a fixed state. The lesser alternative would be a partial denture where you take out at night.
4K? is ridiculous , here in UK if you go with the NHS it will literally cost around £300, even private would be £1200 at a top dentist.

Cash this is exactly what I said. This cannot be a normal fee to do something like this, it is actually 5600 or thereabouts but insurance is only covering around 1800. Feels weird to be paying the 2/3rd portion and the insurance only paying the 1/3 basically.

The office and treatment is amazing, staff basically bending over backwards the moment I walked in the door. They do IV bag sedation, nitro gas, all the bells and whistles short of a herb volcano. Dentist seemed nice and knowledgeable along with impeccable but limited internet reviews.

I think I am going to cancel appt for the morning and look at some alternatives before dropping a '98 Nissan Sentra on a couple of teeth. I wonder if SBR can get a bridge in the store for betpoints

A buddy was quoted $6K for dental work here in Vegas. He went over the Mexico border and got everything done (and done well in a modern, clean office) for only $1.5K. Might be a consideration.

If you got the money get implants. Usually about 5k a tooth, but it's worth it. You won't ever have to take it out and clean it every night, looks much nicer, food won't get stuck all over, etc. Think of it as an investment like a car but better. You will use is everyday for 20+years. 5k is a deal

If you are missing one tooth a typical bridge would sacrifice 2 healthy teeth on either side to "bridge" the damaged one. Look at alternatives for the single tooth repair "implant" before destroying 2 healthy teeth.

Even at the worlds best dentist, one tooth would never equate to a car.
£700 here for one implant. but you need good gums, non smoker etc., and it sounds the op teeth arent in the best of shape.

How close are you to Tijuana?

I'm not kidding. Do some research here. The dentists there are often trained in the States (many went to USC), speak English, and have deals with local hotel/casinos for free rooms. They pick you up from the border and everything.

Way cheaper, spotless offices, same work. Rave reviews online, and the one person I know in San Diego who got veneers and a root canal done there loved it.

Most dumbasses think TJ and only think of what goes on at night in a 2 mi radius, and that would scare them away. Their loss.

I have an implant on the same tooth it sounds like you are dealing with. So far the implant is awesome, looks like my originally tooth and I can't feel it at all. I am relatively young so it made sense to go with an implant because it will last my whole life and I'm healthy. One thing to keep in mind, you won't be able to put the crown on the implant immediately because the titanium needs to integrate with the bone structure. So you would have to wear a temporary tooth solution for around six months until the implant is ready for the permanent crown

Gents not that you guys really are that concerned but I went ahead and paid for the bridge work at my dentist on Thursday.

It looks really good and is apparently going to be temporary for 6 weeks and then I will get a permanent bridge put in. Basically I have two plastic teeth until they do the implants for both of the teeth that survive just posted above.
My wallet hurts as it was almost 4k to have it all done even with good dental insurance but the smile is looking good again. I was almost tempted to do the facebook thing and upload pictures like people do I guess to show off to family and friends but meh. I'd rather just post on SBR to strangers.

(I never use social media ever even at my families request for more pictures and updates, I should probably get better about that)
