i can get on board with "waiting periods" (already in effect), as they can stop passion "i'm gonna go down to walmart and buy a gun and blast this cheating skank and her boyfriend" type killings......
problem is, here in america, guns are like cockroaches.... so many of them here you'll never get rid of them all.....
round up the guns from all citizens? then only the criminal element will have access to them, making commission of crimes even easier.... criminals don't obey laws, including gun laws.... that's why we call them criminals.......
we already ban so-called "assault weapons", but as I've said in prior posts on this issue, all weapons are truly assault weapons..... my 7mm mag is much more deadly than an m-16..... bigger bullet, better accuracy, and longer range..... banning weapons because of the way they look makes no sense.....
I don't have a big problem with limiting clip size, although I have to admit running a 40 round banana clip through a mini 14 that had been modified to be fully auto was fun, and a trip.....
bottom line, we have thousands of gun laws already, and they aren't stopping the crimes such as those recently experienced.... more laws isn't going to change that.........

I grew up hunting every year with my grandfather. I did not like the idea and felt like it would not work trying to get all the guns back. And I never would have thought the massacres would stop from it either. Only takes one gun in the wrong hands etc.

i know it's cliche, but i didn't want to get into the specifics.....
i grew up with guns all around me.... learned early on how to use them, respect them, and respect the damage they can do. learned that results of gunplay can be immediate, final, and life-ruining.....
whether its media/video game (GTA San Andreas, for eg.) desensatization to violence, rap music influence, etc., people quit appreciating the lethality of weapons, and quit respecting the value of human life..... no easy answers here. I'll just keep on protecting myself as best as I can, guns or no guns.......Comment -
Yeah it seriously feels like a lot of people are behind ISIS and want to go to Syria to support them, unless the media is brainwashing us. Well a lot is a few hundred serious ones I guess. But that seems like a shitload in our population. Police seem to regularly arrest people before planned attacks too. Feels inevitable something bad will happen sooner than later.

I feel ya with the guns, since I was 11yrs old I have been around guns. I grew up with them and the idea that they should be treated as any other tool. It is shame that when one tool (such as guns) are abused, we seek to outlaw said item. Which, as history lets us now, does not work.Comment -

Just a sad and horrible event. Seeing some of the replies in this thread just furthers the idea that America is on the decline. All innocent lives matter. Color, sex, religion....it is inconsequential in the big picture. This kid didn't decide to hate on his own. It is learned from family and friends. At the end of the day when you let hate run your life and judge others based on sex, skin, religion, background and not their actions you have failed in life and really are just projecting your own insecurities, ignorance and self hate to the rest of the world.Comment -

But had to laugh myself at the Australia comment. Not completely sure what it's like there. However it's hard to imagine they have to struggle with the reality of trying to get so many people from every different culture, language, religion, race, economic background etc imaginable all trying to coexist as peaceful as possible. All the while being spoonfed drugs, and living under one of the most corrupt and powerful gov bodies on this planet. @Grits I agree and realize much of this is taught and influenced to some degree. But if you truly believe that's ALWAYS the case and were all just a bunch of dumb followers. Then yeah it should seem obvious not just this country but the human species as a whole has a putrid look into our evolutionary future.
I know it's the company line hate is taught etc. But it's always not that easy and just another reason we are failing. It's always about passing the buck or blame on someone else in our society and not taking any responsibility for any wrong doing for your OWN actions. Yet strangely with our successes in life we love to relish in all the praise... Yet to hear but for all I know this kid could have came from a perfectly "normal" family by society standards and came to these conclusions on his own. It happens!Comment -
Agree that adults need to take responsibility for their actions but you don't just wake up one day and hate people based off skin color. It may not be taught by family but it is something a child will digest if they are surrounded by it. The criminal who committed this crime learned his behavior from somewhere and the fact that his father bought him the gun he murdered innocent people with as a birthday present is a pretty strong indicator of the kind of family he comes from. A gun is not a gift or a toy. Before the gun nuts here go ape shit, I want to say I am pro gun rights for responsible adults. There is no way to limit who will be the end user of a gun but it is time to treat gun crimes harsher across the board. The father who purchased the gun should be prosecuted and held liable for his son's actions. He was ok purchasing a deadly weapon and giving it to his son, now he should be held accountable too, in both criminal and civil courts. A lot of guys here like to brag about guns and how bad they are but the majority of these "tough guys" would shit their pants if a gun was pulled on them and they had to shoot back to save their life. I was shot as a teenager and it was not something I would want to go through again.Comment -
Well it's the South and even though I'm not from there and don't come from a similar background myself and not a gun owner personally. I do know the culture living in Midwest most my life. All them rednecks, outdoors types, you know the hunting/fishing guy whatever. That's a pretty strong segment of the white pop there I'm willing to bet. And knowing some of those types myself they are given guns or allowed access to them at a very early age like riding a bike to most of us. Be willing to bet also and from those whom I know personally the vast majority are harmless towards human and taught to use them responsibily for hunting or protection. Hell some of those guys will just shoot at immobile targets all day for whatever reason it busts their nut?!?
Just read a bit more online to get a few updates and the kid had prescribed meds on him as well. Not sure what all his issues are but in this day I'm less shocked they found drugs on him than the weapon of choice he used. Very sad that he picked these people to kill.....Very religious southern blacks are generally some of the nicest people you will find and would never hurt a soul.
I don't get why people don't charge shooters like this either.....He might kill one or 2 if they all rushed him at most. Very strange he had time to reload a few times and then fire away more...The kid was a little bitch and would have been easy to takedown
I know for a fact I would go down swinging and all it takes is one person to rush and the rest will follow....My dad is retired but teaches a few classes part time in his field for HS students and tells all of the kids that they all need to rush a shooter if it ever happens despite what the school lockdown codes are supposed to be
