Ever taken a break from coffee/caffeine?
I'm taking a week off from coffee. The only thing that's been different so far (4 days cold turkey) is that I dream/remember my dreams more fully the past 3 nights.

Not a huge headache. Not sure I'll stay off the wagon. Thoughts from anyone who has quit or gone back or forth?

I'm wondering if it didn't help in the first place why people would ever have continued drinking it.

Ive been trying, well not trying hard, but want to kick it soon, caffeine and nicotine are the most addictive drugs known to man no wonder those are the ones that are legal, go figure.

Addiction cannot be soley evaluated by the ease of difficulty with which one quits the substance. Different substances that produce different levels of physical / mental dependency have vastly differing effects on your life.

Yes, I found the graph i was thinking of. This is from a very interesting study conducted in the UK in 2007. I don't know the ins and outs of the study, but the results are rather interesting.

One thing is easy for me... I can go out drinking Friday/Saturday night... and then not touch alcohol for 3 months straight. I have a liter of Captain sitting right in front of me... I look at it everyday... why drink when you don't really need to?

I guess if you let a substance overpower you... you'll lose. Why don't you overpower the substance instead?

On a side note... caffeine in my opinion isn't that bad for you. It's high dosages that's bad. Nothing wrong with a dose of caffeine in the morning to get your day started.

1 or 2 cups of coffee a day is better for you than zero cups a day.

            A lot like alcohol, actually.

It's so damn hard to quit drinking when your closest friends are a bunch of drunks. I think Canada may be more of a "let's have a couple beers every night after work" culture than the states. Not really a good thing. Our roots are far less puritan in nature.

Your body adapts to caffeiene thats why you need to take more and more to get desired effect. Rule of thumb is not to go over 500mg daily for an extended period of time if you need more than this it is time for a break! Make sure you count everything (soda, chocalate, Tea, energy drinks, coffee, Pre Workouts etc......)

Quit a 12-15 cup per day caffeine addiction cold turkey 2 weeks ago...

1st 24 hours were the worst with vomiting and migraine strength headache that lasted for the better part of 5 days after...

Quitting the green smoke was way easier than caffeine with far less stress on the body.

Health authorities should provide a warning as to the side effects of quitting cold turkey if you consume copious amounts of caffeine per day...

So you drank over 100 ounces of coffee a day? Is that like 3 pots?

I'm at 96 hours since last cup. Not horrible, I was probably 4-5 cups a day, and just low level headache if that, but I'm on vacation. Who knows what it would be like if I had to get up earlier and work.

The mood boost and extra cognition though seem to be worth it, so I'll probably go back. Wanna see what it's like for another 2 days though first.

The saying that our bodies are like temples really cant hold truer...

Drink coconut water instead of coffee now and the benefits that has over coffee really cant be overstated enough...

Its like it gives a similar buzz the receptors in the brain ( I found that anyway) but your body feels so much cleaner for it...

That is interesting about the dreams, back in the day I smoked bud daily for years and when I quit, same thing, vivid lucid dreaming... now I dream/remember them almost every night...best ones are when you realize you are in a dream...shit gets wild

                                        Some reoccurring dreams:

Tornadoes, I'm always running away but sometimes I cannot move...that one is easy to explain, I experienced a tornado when I was young

Teeth falling out or coming loose...can't explain that one

I will be in a skyscraper that is collapsing, I always manage to get out just in time to get away and watch it collapse...can't really explain that one either

Getting struck by lightning, when I get struck it's the same feeling as not being able to move in the tornado dreams...that one is easy, I was struck by lightning when I was 19

I've had that one a lot too... wild stuff. Not sure what it means

Also, have you had one where you witness an airplane exploding or crashing into something? That one always freaks me out.

Never could poinpoint why I have these dreams when I have them, there must be a pattern there but can't figure it out.
