The wife and I had a weird experience finding a wallet a few years back.

--flew back to Miami from S.F.

-- between getting our bags and unloading the suitcases at the condo, we ended up with a woman's wallet.

-- Ecuadorian I.D. and about $2,200 in it

-- debate what to do, but ultimately take it to the police station

-- Police officer gives me a fuked up look when I tell him what happened. looks at the wallet like he wants no part of it

-- goes back and talks to other police folk and they tell me I have to take it back to the airport

-- some messed up jurisdiction thing

-- debated now if I should just keep the damn thing

    -- god is watching, right?

-- get back to the airport, park, talk to airport security who guide me to lost and found

-- after 9 pm now, lost and found is closed

-- find an actual police officer, give my name, number, hand him the wallet

-- never heard back if she got the wallet or not

-- maybe have good karma now

I've had my lost wallet returned twice. With the money in it.

One time i left it on top of a public phone in a box out the back of nowhere.

An hour or so later I hadn't noticed it was gone still when the cops called me to say it was at a police station about 20 minutes drive away.

The people who had found it drove quite a bit out their way to take it straight to the police station.
