I've been using them around once a year for more than 10 years. They work very well. I heard that you should ideally use them after you go to the dentist. That way you are whitening your teeth and not just tartar/plaque. I just went to the dentist a week ago and I started up another pack after not having used them for a couple of years. I can notice a difference already. If you have never used them before you'll probably start seeing a difference after around 3 days or so. After a full 20 days you will definitely see a difference. Some people with sensitive teeth/gums might not be able to use them but I've never had a problem. I use the Professional Effects and they work great. If you haven't gone to the dentist in more than a year I recommend going to the dentist first before using them.

back in the day I used to get a professional grade ones from my dentist (Higher concentration, more expensive, but faster results)...not sure if they sell them now in US over the counter
