Why is Kevin Hart so popular?

I've seen him in a few movies and standup and I dont see how this guy has blown up so much? When I was in college, Dave Chappelle got super popular and I could understand. Then came Dane Cook and I also could understand it. But Kevin Hart? That is this college generation's "It" guy?

I'm also white and 34 so maybe i'm not his target demo. But I like alot of black comedians (chris rock, martin lawrence, damon wayans) - and Kevin Hart sucks IMO.

sure there are a couple times you might laugh throughout a skit

Katt's a bit edgier I give him that but still not all that sharp. Maybe it's just I can't relate personally to most his content being a white guy lol. Yeah we're probably old boner your right. Funny you mention it Burr had a skit on that subject on his latest release "I'm sorry you feel that way". In a nutshell he describes people having like a 25 year window where they absorb pretty much all they know or will love and it relates to youthful years.

At same time tho you can argue the masses are idiots and most their crap doesn't stand test of time. Look at what's hip right now and just terrible entertainment product in my opinion. Duck dynasty, and most this fake reality crap, flavor of the month rapper whoever it is, the Kardashians, Kevin Hart etc. Anyone really believe they will have true staying power and be talked about 20+ years from now in terms of relevancy, sounding fresh like true legends? Carlin , Pryor , Zeppelin, etc I doubt the aforementioned will be in those ranks. But who knows maybe today's youth will still hold them in high regard into their adulthood.....we are getting dumber as a society after all with each generation.

I'm just saying I understood the demographic that would like Dane Cook. He got in on the whole "bro comedy" routine before it went mainstream and his comedy was more like a rock concert. He wasnt a traditional comedian telling jokes, he was telling stories. And he was a good looking young charismatic guy so you knew all the white college girls would go crazy for him. I'm just saying Dane Cook had a niche.

I dont see any niche with Kevin Hart. IMO, he doenst even compare to the great black comedians (Pryor, Cosby, Chappelle, Murphy, Rock, Lawrence) And I suppose he's non-threatening so he'd have some crossover appeal to whites, but i wouldnt even think he'd have the same cred as the Original Kings of Comedy (Steve Harvey and his group).

There's no edge to Kevin Hart. There's no unique attribute to him. So, to me he's just a run of the mill comedian but somehow he's gotten put into a bunch of movies. Maybe he's going to have a short run of stardom like Chris Tucker? I dont know. But yeah, Kevin Hart to comedy is akin to all of the random pop music you hear now that'll be gone in 5 years. He's the Kesha of comedy.
